Clase Azul handmade bottles must be one of the most recognizable Spirit bottles out there. The limited-edition Gold Collection boasts a stunning combination of hand-painted glass and ceramic, a true depiction of Mexico's artistry.

Why the focus on the bottle? Its different colors symbolize the mix of tequila inside, a rare blend of Clase Azul Plata, and a very special expression of Clase Azul Ultra Anejo aged for 8 years. It's the interplay of the clear and crisp notes from the former that uplift the latter rich, dark, and complex notes — a combination of reclaimed Bourbon barrels and reclaimed Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks — into a surprisingly smooth taste that satisfies even the most discerning palate.

Limited edition: 1 of 6000 bottles.

The bottle and the packaging are stunning. Great presentation on that front. I wouldn't expect anything less from Clase Azul.
The tequila is a beautiful amber. I know they were going for a sunset motif, and if you can capture that in a liquid, they did.
As for the tequila flavor... I prefer the Reposado, but just barely. The finish of the Reposado is more pleasant and sweet. whereas I found the Gold to be a bit more harsh. There was also an undertone of agave in the Gold that I didn't find as prevalent in the Reposado. Because the Gold was finished in a bourbon barrel, I had hoped to get a little bit of the flavor of the wood, but I could not find it.
Either way, this was a fine sipping tequila, better neat than over ice. I'm glad I bought the bottle, and it looks fantastic at my bar, but my next Clase Azul purchase will be the Reposado.
