Did you know that Canadian Club wasn’t always Canadian Club? At first, it was known as Club Whisky and it was produced in Detroit. Founded by Hiram Walker, it was soon moved to Windsor, Ontario, due to (rightful) fears of a ban on alcohol. Becoming the most popular liquor smuggled into the U.S. during Prohibition – with even Al Capone as a regular customer – the word Canadian was added.

In 2018, the only North American distillery with a royal warrant launched the prestigious Chronicles Series. Released in 2020, Canadian Club 43 Year Old Chronicle Issue No. 3 – nicknamed The Speakasy – is the oldest Canadian Whisky ever to be bottled. Telling a story of smugglers and illicit speakeasies with its flawless oak tones and muted caramel flavors, this smooth and subtle concoction was named Canada’s Best Whisky at the 2021 Canadian Whisky Awards.

This takes me to my vision of ...

This takes me to my vision of the old country club cigar lounge. The smells and tastes of tobacco, leather, whiskey, and some slightly sweet notes are all over the excellent pour!
