A powerful, but tapered Bulleit Straight Bourbon with additional fruit tones.

Tom Bulleit comes from a family steeped in distilling fine Spirits. He set out to make his own mark in 1987 when he launched Bulleit Frontier Whiskey by reviving the old family recipe — Bulleit Bourbon — with a high-rye mash bill and a ton of attitude. Today they are a part of the Diageo portfolio producing a range of four Bourbons and one Rye Whiskey that have become the Spirits of choice for discriminating cocktail drinkers around the world.

The name "Bulleit Blenders’ Select No. 001" sounds impressive. And it is.

As the name suggests, this is the first in a series of special releases assembled by notable master blenders. In this case, that master blander is Eboni Majors. Regular Bulleit is an assembly of ten high-rye distillates. And she has selected three of them for her signature release — all aged a minimum of nine years in new oak with #1 char heads and #4 char staves. This release is bottled at an impressive 50% ABV.

Medium Amber

Nose / Aroma / Smell
On the nose you’ll find dried cherries, warm toffee, vanilla, and peppers.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The flavor profile has Bulleit’s rye-forward heat with a nice balance of fruit — from orange zest to tart apple.

Finish
The finish is medium-to-long, mellowing into a light sweetness.

This is my favorite bourbon. ...

This is my favorite bourbon. Bulleit’s “top shelf” blend and has become my go-to bourbon. I enjoy it neat with no ice, but I’m sure it’s great either way!

As a follow up to my prior rev...

As a follow up to my prior review, this has truly become my favorite bourbon! Unfortunately, it's sometimes out of stock and a bit hard to find...probably due to it's limited release and popularity. I basically keep it "wish listed" or get it wherever I can find it which is usually between $60 and $80 per bottle. Great neat, on ice, or used in an Old Fashioned!
