Allison Patel is a Whisky princess if there ever was one — a beautiful ex-ballerina that grew up to be an esteemed Whisky contributor. We suggest you visit her blog "The Whisky Woman’s Blog" and, if you tweet, @whiskygirls Twitter feed. We’re excited to see her launch her very own brand of Single Malt Whisky — Brenne.
The distillery is located in Cognac, France. It makes sense, really. It's where all the wonderful French oak barrels are made, there’s plenty of distilling capacity, and the people there have been maturing fine Spirits since... well, forever. There are only a few varieties of Brenne Whisky available so far, including their first age statement, a 10-year-old, and their special award-winning Estate Casks.
Brenne Estate Cask was the first official release from Brenne Whisky. A NAS expression, each batch is bottled individually by the barrel, each cask varies depending on how long the Cognac has been in the barrel. Produced in small batches, Brenne Whisky ages an average of 7 years, before being bottled at 80 proof.
The word "terroir" means "of the land," and it is used to talk about how individual locations influence the taste of fine Wines. People don’t use that word very often when talking about distilled Spirits. But it applies in this case. This is where it all began, with a beautiful flagship Whisky lets you taste a bit of France with every sip. Flaviar approved.
