When a Scotsman moves to the United States, only one thing can happen. The Scotsman starts making a peated American Whiskey. At least this was the case of Alastair Brogan who moved to the States to pursue his dream of making fine Whiskey. Barley, yeast, water, oak, and the pursuit of happiness, he says. Founding a small Colorado Whiskey company, the Boulder Spirits guys have big dreams, even bigger goals, and the biggest pot still in the Cowboy State. Their range includes American Single Malt Whiskeys, Bourbons, and Gins, all made in their unique way that brings new flavors to old traditions.
Boulder Spirits Sherry Cask Finish Bourbon Whiskey is the celebration of modern craft distilling in a bottle. Taking Boulder Bourbon that’s been aged for 3 years in virgin American oak casks, they move it into ex-Oloroso Sherry casks for an extra 9-12 months. Only 4 of these Europe-imported butts at a time are filled. The highly-malted Bourbon goes very well with the dried fruit flavors from the Sherry butts, creating new flavors of dried apricot, raisin, and cinnamon pastry. The Boulder folk suggest you savor this one at sunset, preferably at a nice terrace somewhere. That could be arranged, right?
