The Bladnoch distillery was founded in 1817 on the banks of the River Blandoch by John and Thomas McClelland. It remained a family business for a century, and although it changed owners through time, it's still one of the oldest (and largest) privately-owned distilleries. Today, 'The Queen of the Lowlands' creates gorgeous expressions under Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage (formerly at The Macallan)
When the distillery was refurbished and reopened with a new vision in 2017, Bladnoch released three sumptuous celebratory expressions - Samsara was the first one. Officially, it's a no-age-statement potion, but our intel says the Whiskies within are at least eight years old, while some are much older and rarer. Samsara ('rebirth' in Sanskrit) was matured in a lush combination of Californian Red Wine casks and ex-Bourbon barrels. Sweet vinaceous influence, vanilla, and layers upon layers of complex flavors and aromas. Won Gold at the 2018 San Francisco Spirits Competition and the 2018 Scotch Whisky Masters and silver in the same competitions a year before.
