Bladnoch Distillery was founded in 1817 by John and Thomas McClelland. Since then it has been merged and acquired a host of times — suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and occasional mismanagement. But a few years ago, Australian entrepreneur David Prior bought the entire property — literally lock, stock, and barrels — and has installed all new equipment and is issuing releases from inventory and new-make production. Interestingly, it is one of only six remaining Lowland Single Malt distilleries that remain, and it is the furthest south in Scotland.
Bladnoch 17 Year Old Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an award-winning offering. It was hand-crafted with the finest local ingredients, which means you get the real taste of the Lowlands. The pristine water from the River Bladnoch and Scottish barley make for a rich and flavorful Whisky that’s non-chill filtered. It was put into ex-Bourbon casks in 2001 and later finished in red Wine casks. The best way to savor this one? The good Bladnoch folk say enjoy it neat or add a couple of drops of spring water.
