The most awarded and recognized Rum from the Dominican Republic… for good reason.

The Dominican Republic has a lot of Rum producers, but the world of Dominican Rum is ruled by "Three B's" ‚ÄĒ Bermudez, Barcel√≥, and Brugal. Founded in 1930, Ron Barcel√≥ is headquartered in the capital of Santo Domingo, but has its distillery in the heart of the sugarcane fields near the town of San Pedro de Macor√≠s about thirty miles east of the capital. The company was founded by a young Spaniard ‚ÄĒ Juli√°n Barcel√≥ ‚ÄĒ who arrived in 1929 specifically to start making Rum. The company makes a wide range of Rums and is exported across the Caribbean and around the world.

In 1974, founder Don Juli√°n Barcel√≥ retired and turned the company over to his nephew Miguel Barcel√≥. Miguel immediately set out to aging special casks and crafting a new signature Rum to make his mark on the company line-up. The result of that effort is Barcel√≥ Imperial Rum ‚ÄĒ released for the first time in 1980. It remains the most awarded and recognized Dominican Rum in the world.
