The shortest method to reach another dimension

Founded back in 1815 by John Macdougall, Ardbeg distillery on the Isle of Islay is one of those Whisky powerhouses that seems to have in the years of operation found the perfect recipe for the perfect Whisky - or, as they say for Ardberg, “as close to perfection as makes no difference.” According to Ardbeg, all you need is the most phenolic malt in the business and soft pure water from your own water source to go along with some dedication, passion, and chemistry, and voilà, here come the accolades such as World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt.

For 2023 Ardbeg day, Dr. Bill Lumsden, the Director of Whiskey Creation, has planned something truly special. For the first time ever, Ardbeg has distilled a Whiskey without a purifier - the apparatus that is responsible for maintaining the perfect balance between Ardbeg’s famous smoky peatiness and floral fruitiness. Without the purifier, the Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Committee Release Single Malt is a darker, smokier and more dramatic version of an Ardbeg Single Malt. The distillery does not provide an age, but since the experiment was conducted 12 years ago, we can safely say this Whiskey is about 11 years old. It matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being bottled at an ABV of 50.2%.

Really interesting Ardbeg, sti...

Really interesting Ardbeg, still has the classic Ardbeg peat, but it actually feels like the taste is a vapor in your throat. Would recommend if you're an Ardbeg fan.
