Oof, things just got smokin’ hot!

The history of Ardbeg is one characterized by many turbulent ups and downs, but it ultimately plays out as a great success story. With their Whisky deemed “as close to perfection as makes no difference,” what once started out on a small Ardbeg farm owned by Duncan Macdougall, now stands as one of the indispensable cornerstones of the Islay Scotch Whisky production, winning a myriad of prestigious titles like World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt.

Just like grilling, distilling knows how to bring that smoky heat, and Ardbeg is taking it to a whole new level with its scorching sensation, Ardbeg BizarreBQ. Dr. Bill Lumsden, the Whisky wizard behind their creations, has teamed up with the culinary maestro, Christian Stevenson (aka DJ BBQ), to create a limited-edition marvel that hits you with a punch of meaty and peaty goodness. They’ve thrown tradition out the window and dived headfirst into an experimental frenzy, toasting their way to perfection using double-charred oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and their very own extra-charred BBQ casks straight from the old-school brazier. Bottled at a bold 50.9% ABV, this remarkable concoction delivers a sweet, tangy, and smoky flavor that serves as the ideal wingman for all your epic grilling escapades.

Nose is charred, candied bacon...

Nose is charred, candied bacon or ham with some clove. Mouth feel is slightly syrupy. On the palate it’s initially sweet with a campfire smoke and the spice intensifies as you sit with it. Spice is brash cinnamon and some ginger. One of the sweetest Ardbeg offerings I’ve tried but still has the bold campfire smoke. Best limited release since Blaaack for me!
