Ardbeg once proclaimed itself "unquestionably, the greatest distillery on Earth" and to tell you the truth, we weren’t mad. Founded in 1815 in the island of Islay in Argyll, Scotland, their limited-edition Committee Releases are a special kind of delicacy thanks to Mickey Heads who steered the ship from 2007 to late 2020.
As a farewell, Ardbeg bid him a proper adieu by creating this exquisite bottling, with Heads on the label as a pirate at the helm of a ship. Aged exclusively in ex-Rye casks and bottled at cask strength, this treasure is surprisingly on the softer side of Ardbeg’s masterpieces – spicy, smoky, fruity, and herbaceous are some of the words that spring to mind. We’re definitely not mad.
