The first release of delicate, French style Malt Whisky from the land of Cognac.
Five generations of the Giraud family have been distillers and cellar masters serving a Cognac house. Alfred Giraud’s son has been working in the Scotch Whisky industry since 1995. In 2012 they joined forces with other alumni of the local Cognac trade to form Alfred Giraud Whisky (Maison Giraud). They collect malt distillate from French distilleries and marries the blends in ex-Cognac casks to develop a new, signature French style of Malt Whisky. Their portfolio currently includes two versions: The un-peated Heritage and the peated Harmony.
Alfred Giraud Heritage French Malt Whisky is a blend of three distinct malt distillates. The majority of the Spirit is aged in ex-Cognac casks, with the remained aged in a combination of new casks made from American oak and oak raised on the Giraud family tree farm in Limousin, France. The three are married and set to rest until maturity exclusively in casks that previously held extra-old Cognac. This triple wood, triple malt dram is non-chill-filtered with natural color and bottled at a perfect 45.9% ABV that pours form a lovely decanter. And this first year release is an extremely limited edition consisting of just 23 casks.
