From the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountains and the depths of Lake Tahoe's pristine waters emerges 72 Mile Spirits, a small-batch distillery that crafts some delicious liquids with a mountainous soul. They pour their heart into every bottle, using only top-notch ingredients and the purest Lake Tahoe water. Their moniker comes from the 72 Mile scenic drive around the lake, hailed as one of America's most jaw-dropping journeys. And what grander finale to a day soaked with all the breathtaking views than pouring yourself a Cocktail adorned with the smooth embrace of their 72 Spirits?
If you ever dare to wander west of Lake Tahoe, brace yourself for the Desolation Wilderness — a hidden gem spanning a stunning 63,960 acres of sub-alpine and alpine wonderland featuring majestic granite peaks, picturesque glacial valleys, and serene lakes. Inspired by this mystical realm, the folks at 72 Mile Distillery named their Rye Whiskey after it. They take their grains, give 'em a good cooking and fermenting, and then age their smoky rye distillate (with hints of oak and barley) in new American Oak casks at 110 proof. No chill-filtering, no additives—just the purest water sourced straight from the depths of Lake Tahoe. The palate offers one Spirited and feisty affair, unmasking flavors of smoke, rye spice, cherry, and honey. As the spicy finish bids farewell, it leaves behind a gentle kiss of honeyed sweetness. Trust us. This is one seriously sweet deal!
