"The Spirit of the NBA" just got a lot smoother and sweeter.

Hennessy is THE giant in the world of Cognac. Jas Hennessy & Co. produces more than fifty million bottles of Cognac each year — more than 40% of the entire market. Interestingly, this most famous French company located in Cognac, France, was founded by an Irishman Richard Hennessy in 1765. The modern company produces nearly two dozen core Spirits and many more collectors editions and limited releases as a subsidiary of Moët Hennessy, which in turn is owned in partnership by Diageo and LVMH.

Hennessy’s classic V.S is a blend of approximately forty Eau de Vie from local farms in the Cognac region aged in new European oak for a minimum of two years. Hennessy V.S NBA Gift Box is a special limited edition box perfect for gifting. Inside is the most popular dram of Cognac in the world. On the outside is a beautifully-designed commemorative box with original artwork and details of Hennessy’s partnership with the NBA.

Smartass Corner:
Cognac’s letter grading system was created by Maurice Hennessy in 1865, so they take it very seriously. The V.S signifies that the youngest Spirit in this blend has been aged a minimum of two years.

Nine liters of white Wine must be distilled for a single liter of Cognac!
There are three primary grades of Cognac recognized by law: V.S., V.S.O.P., and X.O, but we also know Napoléon, XXO, and Hors d'âge.
Laws concerning Cognac-making are strict as hell. Only three types of grapes may be used, and they can only be harvested in October; Cognac must be aged for at least two years in barrels made from French oak - and get this, from one of two specific forests! Then, the stills must be of a particular French shape (no, not the baguette shape); and we guess La Marseillaise has to be sung during the entire process.
The wine used for Cognac is very dry, acidic, and thin but excellent for distillation and aging.
Hennessy is the largest Cognac producer in the world.
Cognac is a form of distilled Brandy. For a spirit to be labeled Cognac, it must be made from specified grapes, of which Ugni Blanc is the one most widely used. It must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais.
