A warm and earthy Vodka made from sustainably-harvested Bolivian quinoa.

As the name might suggest, FAIR Ethical Wine & Spirits is focused on their concept of the fair-trade acquisition of Spirits and ingredients from around the world that they source ethically and sustainably. All of those ingredients are sent to the famous production house Maison Rene’ Laclie Spirits in the Cognac region of France where seven core Spirits are produced and shipped world-wide, including Gin, Vodka, Rum, and a series of interesting specialty Spirits made from exotic ingredients.

FAIR Vodka is made from a base of Bolivian quinoa seeds. Using quinoa is rather rare, but a few producers are using it in distilled Spirits these days. One of the main things you will notice is that the quinoa brings a nutty, earthiness to the Spirit which brings a unique spin on the whole thing. Plus it makes the Spirit gluten-free. And since production is handled by generations of experience at Maison Laclie, the quality is exceptional and they have a half dozen awards to prove it — including two Double Gold medals.

Smartass Corner:
Quinoa is a native South American crop that’s really popular these days with people looking for gluten-free alternatives to wheat. It isn’t a grain — it’s a flowing plant. But the seeds act like a grain when processed and dried.

It looks like potato chips and flavored Vodka are two things where the producers unleash their imagination. Bubble gum, fresh cut grass, pumpkin pie, marshmallow, and coconut water hardly begin to describe the many flavors of Vodka.
You won't impress the bartender by ordering Vodka-soda, but it's a good choice if you want to avoid unecessary sugar intake and make sure you stay hydrated when consuming alcohol.
Vodka can be made anywhere in the world and pretty much of any ingredient that contains starch.

For a potato-based Vodka, 12kg (26.5lbs) potatoes are needed to produce a single bottle.
The average life of a $50 bill in circulation is 55 months before it is replaced due to wear.
Unlike its boozy brethren Bourbon and Scotch, Vodka can be made anywhere in the world. But it’s Eastern Europe that gets the credit for its birth. Just don’t ask Russia and Poland to get to the bottom of it—both argue that they masterminded the Spirit first.
Seems that Vodka is a lightweight—quite literally. This clear Spirit actually weighs less than water. One liter of water weighs 1,000 grams, while the same amount of Vodka only clocks in at 953 grams.
