Tamdhu CAN-DHU. Anything is possible. Everything goes when it comes to this Whisky. Its entry into our hall of fame was inevitable and any resistance on our part—futile. Not that there was any. Let's just say we were quite willing.

Distilled in 1999 and matured for 18 years, this expression epitomizes the grandeur that is Tamdhu. Peak performance from start to finish using only the best ingredients. One perfect cask and no dilution, which means that it’s packing a whopping 106.2 proof natural cask strength punch. The result? A Spirit that really can do. Shia LaBeouf once screamed "JUST DO IT" at the top of his testicles. And if Tamdhu wasn’t the inspiration behind the viral video, it should have been.

Ladies and gents… your turn to get inspired.

Appearance / Color
Golden brown.

Smell / Nose / Aroma
A bit pungent on the first whiff, then a hell of great scents breaks loose. From citrusy, fresh aromas to earth-like flavors.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
Zesty, with a lot of different fruity and citrusy tones that linger. Quite oaky and a bit phenolic in the aftermath.

Finish
Strong and straight to the point, this finish just doesn’t stop at all.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Tamdhu 50 Year Old that was released to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Ian Macleod Distillers, is one of the most expensive Scotch Whiskies out there. Bottled in hand-made crystal decanter, it retails for nearly £17,000 price tag. Those who have had the chance to taste it, say it's well worth it.
