Bardstown Kentucky is one of the major centers of Bourbon production in the country. Old Bardstown Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey is not named after the town, but after a race horse from the 1950s.
The horse, despite its handicaps, has impressive list of victories after enduring injuries and other setbacks. The Old Bardstown line of Bourbons comes from the masters at Willet Distillery.
They have four versions, including an “estate bottled” which means that everything happens on site from distillation through bottling. But the Black Label version is the more common to find.
The palate will reveal fresh herbs, malt, some cocoa and a hint of lemon zest. The finish clings with leather, tobacco, and mown grass, with an ABV over 43%.
