All about Henry McKenna
Henry McKenna was an Irish immigrant who came to the Kentucky region in 1837. With a background in distilling, Mckenna set up shop in Fairfield, Kentucky — just about five miles from where the current Heaven Hill Distillery is located.
This Whiskey is named after him. Henry McKenna shares the mash bill with other notable Heaven Hill brands Elijah Craig, Fighting Cock, Evan Williams, and a few others — 75% Corn, 13% Rye, and 12% Barley.
It is bottled in bond and single barrel, aged a minimum of ten years. This means that it is a pure, 50% ABV.
McKenna is a rich, full bodied Whiskey. The butterscotch and dark fruit notes pop out on the nose. The palate is almost chewy in texture with more dark fruits and cinnamon, vanilla, baking spices, and more. The finish is long, woody and toasty.
