Don Andres Brugal Montaner launched Brugal in 1888 to break away from the traditional styles of the time and to create a distinctly different Rum. Apparently there are two things that set Brugal apart from others. First, the method of distillation, which removes much of what other Rums leave in. The Spirit is thus cleaner, dryer and less sweet. Secondly, every drop of Brugal is cask-aged, using the same wood policy as the World’s best single malt Scotch Whiskies.
Produced in the Dominican Republic, Brugal 1888 Rum is distilled for dryness - Brugal’s distillation removes many of the heavy alcohols that give other Rums their sweetness. Distilled from fermented molasses, this is a double-aged blend of Rums that were matured from 5 to 14 years in American white oak casks and finished in first-fill Sherry oak casks. Bringing together Bourbon and Sherry flavors, the notes of vanilla, red fruits, and toffee are supported by cocoa and natural oak spice. Think reinventing your Rum Negroni or Old-Fashioned or just sipping it neat to evoke all your senses.
The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Brugal 1888 Rum and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
Avast, ye hearties!
Lean in close, for the Rum Triangle is a cautionary tale. Drawing in unsuspecting imbibers with an irresistible magnetism, the Rum Triangle makes the fabled Devil’s Triangle quake in its soggy-bottomed boots. For once a wandering soul finds itself in the Triangle’s clutches, it’s destined to a Rum-soaked existence from which it can never willingly escape.
With the Dominican Republic due north, El Salvador to the east and Barbados to the west, the fated coordinates of this Triangle produce some of the world’s most intoxicating Rums.
Word to the wise, Mateys: Sip at ye own risk, as you may fall under the triangle’s boozy spell and never return. Arrrr!
