A refined Bourbon, expertly finished in Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded in 1874 in Bardstown, Kentucky, The Barton 1792 Distillery has been around for a while and it’s changed many-a hand and many-a name. Right from the start, Tom Moore was an employee there and he eventually bought the distillery and named it Morton Spring Distillery. Then, he sold it to a group of outside investors. He stayed as an employee at the shop, but then, he bought the lot next door to open a brand new competing distillery. Eventually, he was able to buy Morton Spring Distillery once again and merge the two operations, building an innovative Whiskey empire. He renamed the combined operation “The Thomas Moore Distillery”. After the Prohibition, he sold the property and it was bought and sold a few more times. Sazerac bought it in 2009 and decided to rechristen the entire operation “The Barton 1792 Distillery.” Full circle.

Thomas S. Moore Cabernet Sauvignon Cask Finish Bourbon is named after the Bourbon pioneer that changed the course of distillery back in 1874. It’s made from Barton 1792 Bourbon with a high rye mash bill that’s first aged for at least 5 years in new American oak and then finished in Cabernet Sauvignon casks for a couple of extra years. This one is bold and rich with flavors of dark fruit, caramel, and vanilla that are delivered at 95.3 proof. A wonderfully done Cabernet Sauvignon finish that’s hard to find.

The Cabernet Sauvignon edition is best of the 3 finishes offered by TM

This finish is the best, most balanced of the 3 different finishes for the good, but not great, TM bourbon.
