Kingdom for this extravagant bottle!

Ask any Whisky lover and they'll tell you The Macallan is a classy gentleman. The distillery by the river Spey has been known for its unsurpassed commitment to the mastery of wood and Spirits since its establishment in the 1824. They sure do know a thing or two about making great Scotch.

The distillery stands on a ridge above the River Spey and it got its name from an ancient church that had been burnt down in the 15th century. They have two "secrets" up their sleeve: top secret specially cultured yeast for the fermentation, and the smallest stills within the Scotch industry.

This rare treasure is a symphony of clove, orange, nutmeg, and wood smoke, that was inherited from Oloroso Sherry oak from Jerez, where this Spirit spent three decades. The Macallan Sherry Oak series is a deluxe institution and this mahogany potion is its richest expression. Every drop is pure gold and the only way to enjoy it is neat or on rocks, but most definitely with a smile.

Macallan is a popular choice among the younger Whisky drinking crowd and they do a lot of marketing activities to keep in touch with them. In 2016, they created a Facebook chatbot that answered questions about the brand and its Whiskies.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Single malt stands for around 10% of the Scotch market. This is a malt containing only one grain, legally required to be barley in Scotland, and made at a single distillery.

A blended Scotch is a combination of different malts from different distilleries. It is typically made from grain Whisky but does include malt Whisky to give it a more complex body.
