A sweet and sensational Scotch from Speyside.
"Nomen est omen" said the Romans, which roughly translates to "If your name is Titus, you're probably cool." So, when Wemys Malts put out the flavorful trio "The Hive", "Spice King" and "Peat Chimney", everyone know what to expect: sweet, spicy and smoky expressions to blow everyone's minds. They all share the base, which is a fabulous mixture of ten different single malts of various ages and origins (Highlands, Lowlands, and Speyside). Then, the magic happens, and distinct Whiskies are created. The Hive, which isn't even trying to be subtle about its flavors with its color, its name and the bee on its label, excels with Speyside signature malts added to the core, bursting with citrus and honeyed notes.
The Hive 12 Year Old is bottled at 40% and its honey yellow gold color is so alluring you'll probably have a few drunk and confused bees in your house. But don't worry, this isn't a syrupy and sweet mess. The honey tones are wonderfully understated and balanced with slight spice notes, which makes for an amazing and complex sweet Scotch. It won an International Spirits Challenge silver medal in 2012, too!
