A powerful and unique sampling of three experimental Whiskies from one of Scotlands legendary distilleries.
George Smith was running an illegal still on the estate of the Duke of Gordon in the wee early 1800’s — who he supplied with the occasional dram. The Duke sponsored legislation in 1823 that made Whiskey distilling legal in the UK, it just so happens that George Smith was the first one granted a license. Today The Glenlivet is one of the "Big Three" Single Malt producers. Their Whiskies are Speyside and the water for the mash comes famously from "Josie’s Well" nearby. The Glenlivet produces a wide variety of Single Malt agings and cask combinations, with the remaining Spirit an indispensable component in some of the most famous blends.
The Glenlivet Spectra is not "a" Whisky. As the name implies, The Glenlivet Spectra is a range of three different limited edition Single Malts from one of the best names in the business. The distillery calls them "three mysterious" expressions. Spectra 1 is a fruity dram they call "our secret orchard." Spectra 2 has notes of the sea and a campfire by the sea. Spectra 3 is creamy, warm, and smooth. If you know your Glenlivet, then you know that some of those flavor profiles are a radical departure from the core Spirit. And that’s kind of the point. But with the Spectra box set you get all three to sample.
