Dublin’s finest.
Jack Teeling founded the Teeling Whiskey Company in 2012, with a mission to challenge the norm by crafting Irish Whiskey with more depth of personality and character than the current mass-market options, and to become Ireland's leading independent Irish Whiskey producer. Jack Teeling comes from a family with a long tradition associated with Irish Whiskey. Take for example the Cooley Distillery, which was founded by John Teeling, and Walter Teeling in 1782, setting up a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin.
Teeling’s way of doing things is perhaps a tad unorthodox. They blend, age and bottle Whiskey from different sources much in the form of Scottish independent bottlers. And that is the reason why we are so fond of their work. Not only are they the first ones to open a new distillery in Dublin in decades, they also do things with a new perspective and give the traditional Irish Whiskey a new style.
Teeling Single Grain is aged in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon red Wine casks, not in ex-Bourbon barrels as one would presume. It’s predominantly corn grain based, which gives it a neat, sweetened character somewhat reminiscent of Bourbon. No chill-filtration was used so all the natural flavors were preserved. A sweet, smooth sipper!
