Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin is the sexy Italian cousin of England’s Sloe Gin.

Luxardo is a small producer in Northeastern Italy, near Venice and just west of Padua. But in our opinion, it is also one of the most influential and important companies in the Spirits business. Without their contributions, the world of cocktails just wouldn’t be the same. From specialty Liqueurs and Bitters to the famous Original Gourmet Maraschino Cherry that is heads and tales above the dyed candy drops served in common bars. The company was founded in 1821 by family patriarch Girolamo Luxardo and the company is still run by family members unto the seventh generation.

For Gin fans, this one is easy to get your head around. Think of Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin as an Italian take on English Sloe Gin but with less added sugar and more natural fruit sweetness. And that’s why it works so well. It’s familiar, yet a bit exotic at the same time. Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin starts with a classic London Dry Gin from Luxardo’s own stills. Then they infuse their famous Marasca cherry juice into the Spirit. The result is a delicate and fruit-forward Gin worth dramming ot mixing at 37.5% ABV. Try it in as an Italian-infuse Gin & Tonic.

The Marasca cherry is a deep, dark red fruit with a firm, drier flesh and sweet-bitter taste. It is native to Dalmatia, Croatia, and Northeastern Italy with the largest crop growing in Croatia. It has not been successfully grown any place else.
