Paul Ryan Elliott started making Vodka in an actual loft in downtown Los Angeles. He also has a nickname he earned in college — Bear. So when he took on an investor to help him transform his distilling hobby into a business, calling his fledgeling distillery YSA (Young State America) and naming his first product Loft & Bear Vodka. That was back in 2013, and now today his small batch, hand-crafted Spirit has captured distribution across Southern California and is reaching out into the rest of the world.
Loft & Bear Vodka is simple and straight forward. It's got three ingredients — soft winter wheat, yeast, and distilled water. Vodka drinkers will recognize this as a formula similar to French and premium Russian Vodkas. Using winter wheat makes for a soft, viscous mouth-feel, so you can sip it neat or on the rocks at 40% ABV. But it also mixes perfectly for exceptional Cocktails.
