Johnnie Walker’s “Best” Scotch blend in a limited edition presentation box and bottle, celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Johnnie Walker is one of the most recognized Whisky names in the World. The brand was established in 1860 by John “Johnnie” Walker, when he started blending Whiskies from his grocery shop in Ayrshire, Scotland. During the Victorian Era, success came when his son Alexander exported around the British Empire, establishing the Whisky early as one of the first truly global brands.

Today, Johnnie Walker’s famous square-shaped bottle — with the label set at a jaunty 24 degrees — is THE most popular blended Whisky in the world, selling more than 130 million bottles per year in nearly every country on the planet across a wide range of ages, special editions, and finishes.

The good folks at Johnnie Walker have been releasing an annual collector’s edition at the Chinese New Year. Thousands of bottles have been shelved away, unopened. Thousands more have been opened and enjoyed with the fancy decorated bottles kept as souvenirs. All of them have been filled with Johnnie Walker’s top-of-the-line Blue Label blend.

The Chinese New Year begins on January 25th, 2020, and will usher in The Year of the Rat. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year Of The Rat Limited Edition is coming out now — in time for the holidays. Enjoy!

Smartass corner:
Our Western calendars are based on the solar year — the time it takes for the Earth to make one orbit. The ancient Chinese calendar is based on the lunar cycle. The Moon goes through its phases about twelve times per year, but not exactly. So the date wanders.
