A textbook high Rye Bourbon.

Aside from a short break in production during prohibition — well, and “official” and “legal” break as far as the government knows — Jim Beam has been producing Bourbon Whiskey since 1795 in Clermont, Kentucky. Since then, an unbroken string of seven generations of the Beam family have worked there. And unless you are a Bourbon virgin, you know that Jim Beam is one of the largest produces of sweet American Whiskey in the world — marketing dozens of brands as a subsidiary of Beam Suntory.

Today, high Rye Bourbons are all the rage… because they are awesome on their own and perfect for classic craft cocktails. But there is no way the folks at Jim Beam could have guessed that when they distilled Jim Beam High Rye 11 YO Kentucky Straight Bourbon way back in 2004. Call it magic, call it luck, call it anything you like. We call it a classic, textbook high Rye Bourbon with a rich, full body that smells like it was made in a Christmas bakery … and yes, that’s a good thing.

Smartass Corner
The Böhm family changed their name to “Beam” when they emigrated from Germany. Johannes "Reginald" Beam settled in Kentucky and set up his distillery — which he called “Old Tub” — and sold his Bourbon under the name “Old Jake Beam.” The product was renamed “Jim Beam” immediately after Prohibition in honor of the man who fired up the distillery once again.
