Kissed by peat.

The Glenrothes distillery was founded in 1879 by the burn of Rothes in Speyside. The distillery is interesting because it determines the maturity of their expressions by the vintage, not the age. This means they bottle vintages by year, rather than mixing expressions by several years. As a collector, this allows you to enjoy and appreciate each vintage for what it is, a moment captured forever in a bottle.

This no-nonsense no-age-statement single malt was created by selecting and marrying 1992 Vintage casks, and finishing the blend in peaty Islay casks (so not exactly a peated Whisky per se, but a non-peated Scotch that spent a few months in casks that held peated Whisky).

This expression is inspired by the period of time when The Glenrothes formed an association with Islay Distillery Co. in 1887.

Nose is very light with lemon ...

Nose is very light with lemon and honey coming through the most, got some subtle vanilla. Somewhat bright and refreshing on the palate with lemon and some spice being the stand outs. Picked up a touch of smoke and more vanilla on the finish.

I needed an every night scotch...

I needed an every night scotch that fit my palette but also didn't break the bank. This Glenrothes Peated comes very close to fitting the bill. To me it's clearly not up to the quality of some of the other big boys but it's good and I don't mind drinking it at all. It fits the peat/heat for my taste (This ones leans a little more sweet then the norm in my collection. Almost candy like)
