Facundo Exquisito Rum might be our favorite Rum of the year, bar none.
Bacardi is still family owned — seven generations of the Bacardi family have run the company since it was founded on February 4th, 1862. They are the largest privately held Spirits company in the world. Headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, they are best known for their namesake White Puerto Rican Rum. But they are a worldwide producer of Spirits covering every major category with annual sales nearing US $5 billion.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the company, Bacardi set out to create a masterpiece line of ultra-premium Rums. Thus, they created the Facundo range of four special Rums — each distinct and unique.
Facundo Exquisito Rum is a blend of Rums from seven to twenty-three years old. All those bit of Rum-loving awesomeness are blended together and finished in ex-Sherry casks fro a minimum of one additional month. This yields a remarkably smooth, remarkably dense Rum that may be the best we’ve tasted this year.
Smartass Corner:
The Facundo range of ultra-premium Rums from Bacardi is named after the original founder, Don Facundo Bacardi Massó.
