Bobby's Schiedam Jenever Dry Gin

Unique Gin and a story of grandparents.

It all started in the ancient little town near Rotterdam called Schiedam - twice. In 1777, one Herman Jansen distilled his first malt wine Gin. He called it Jenever, sailors called it "Dutch Courage". It’s the granddaddy of London Dry Gin. Two centuries later, in 1950, Jacobus Alfons migrated from Indonesia to the Netherlands. Jacobus, AKA Bobby, loved Dutch Jenever, but concocted his own version to remind him of home. He infused the Spirit with Indonesian spices and herbs and unwittingly created his own Gin. He was the granddaddy of Sebastiaan, who stumbled upon one of Bobby’s bottles and discovered the one-of-a-kind Spirit. He decided to go full Jurassic Park on it and bring it back to life. He went to Schiedam and found the 7th generation Master Distiller of Herman Jansen and teamed up with him. After two years of trying, tinkering and tasting, Bobby’s Schiedam Jenever was born.

Bobby’s Schiedam Jenever uses the old-school base of malt wine and is flavored with cardamom, juniper, cubeb peppercorns, lemongrass, and ginger. The Spirit boasts a bold character and a rich juniper profile. It’s citrusy, it’s fresh, and it’s absolutely unique. Traditional Indonesian botanicals and spices create the unique character, while the Western botanicals bring balance between the two worlds. Bobby’s Jenever comes in a chic reinvention of the classic ‘kruik’ bottle made in classy brown and grey smoked glass. The zig-zag pattern is the traditional Indonesian Ikat pattern. We’d recommend trying this gem neat, but it works perfectly with Tonic.
