Akal Chai Rum is a unique drink from the West Indies with strong ties to India. Cue the trailblazing tea-rum.

In the world of spirits, novelties come and go, but truly revolutionary ideas stick. The founder of Akal Rum, Kiran Shiva Akal, comes from a rich background of tea and perfume-making. He set out to create a super-premium spirit-hybrid combining the two. The idea came after discovering a Dutch admiral who existed sometime during the historic Europe - India trade, which leaves a pretty wide gap. Still, at least we know it’s sometimes after 1500. Nonetheless, Kiran’s imagination was sparked, and the exquisite Rum made of tea through the lens of perfumes was (eventually) born.

Starting with single-estate teas from India that are masterfully married with tropical flowers and limited reserve Rum from the West Indies, then aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. It’s a solid sipper holding its own against any highly regarded spirit, if not more. It’s partially produced in Europe, India, and the West Indies, making it - ‘The world distilled in a glass.’
