Hennessy DistilleryHennessy Distillery

Founded in 1765
Hennesy is located on the river banks of River Charente in the Cognac region of France.

Richard Hennessy (an Irish aristocrat!) moved to France in the mid 18th century, served 12 years in the French Army to gain his citizenship, and then opened his distillery in 1765.

The talents of seven generations of cellar-masters from the Fillioux family have enabled Hennessy to constitute the most remarkable reserves of rare eaux-de-vie in the world.

Maison Hennessy remains one of the most iconic and distinguished Cognac houses to this day.

The brand, which became synonymous with Cognac, has significantly shaped the history of this drink. The Hennessy family has been dominating the Cognac industry for two and a half centuries and they have no plan of stopping.

Today, Hennessy is a part of the LVMH Group and is known for cultivating profitable relationships across markets, like its well-known collaboration with JonOne.

Hennessy only uses Ugni Blanc grapes from the soil surrounding the famous Charente river. These light and fruity grapes go hand in hand with their double copper pot distillation technique, resulting in a unique eaux-de-vie.

About The Flavor Spiral

What does Hennessy taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Hennessy Cognac. It's based on all Hennessy drinks in our large database and gives you a chance to taste Hennessy before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
