BenRiach

We are just getting to the real deal here. Since BenRiach went independent in 2004 and the youngest core release is the 10 YO, those youngsters have just come to the fore in the last year or so. Make no mistake, there are legitimate BenRiach bottlings out there that are older, but they are private bottling, odd casks, and experimental editions from before the current staff lineup and commitment to reestablishing the BenRiach spirit. But to judge what BenRiach has been born and reborn into, we must taste the 10 YO.

That said, The 10 YO is impressive. The distillery has retruned to its roots as a classic Speyside dram. It is medium-bodied and nicely sweet without being candy. And you get those apple and pear notes that we love in our Spey Whisky along with pumpkin spices and a warm earthiness. We eagerly await a rumored 12 YO coming next year and then continuing to redeiscover the older versions in the future.

What does BenRiach taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in BenRiach scotch whisky and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
