A sugarcane and molasses-based, Pot-Stilled Rum aged in ex-Bourbon casks.

All Points West Distillery was founded by Gil Spaier. An architect and building renovator by training, he took up baking as a hobby. Baking is a function of yeast. That led to milling his own grain. Handling yeast and milling his own grains led to home-brewing. And home-brewing led him to distillation, founding his passion project in 2017. He had the idea to use traditional Irish pot-still methods on a barley and corn Spirit. In his second year his first Whiskey was awarded the Gold Medal AND "Whiskey of the Year" from the USA Spirit Rating Competition.

The newest product to come from the stills of All Points West Distillery is Kill Van Kull Single Pot Still Rum. It mixes Rum styles by using both sugarcane and molasses. The text and palate is similar to some Barbados Rums because it’s distilled on the same single copper pot they use to make their Irish-styled Whiskey. And it’s aged in ex-Bourbon casks from the Union Horse Distillery in Saint Louis, Missouri. This delicious Rum earned the Gold Award at the John Barleycorn Awards, 2020.

Smartass Corner:
"Kill Van Kull" roughly translates from Dutch vernacular as "channel of the pass." It’s the name of a water strait that separates New York’s Staten Island from Bayonne, New Jersey. The waterway is about one thousand feet wide and connects Newark Bay with Upper New York Bay.
