All about Eagle Rare

Eagle Rare Bourbon was introduced as a small batch brand created by Charles L. Beam in 1975. When it first came out it was 101-proof 10YO. That version was discontinued in 2005, but they were replaced by 90-proof versions (45% ABV) of both the 10YO and tasty 17YO.

The 10YO is the core product and has performed well at all of the shows, including multiple gold medals. During the merger and acquisition furor of the 1980s and 1990s, it ended up as a product of the Buffalo Trace Distillery.

I can be considered a rare find, so if you see it on a shelf grab it while you can. If you get your hands on a bottle, look for flavors of cocoa, orange blossoms, toffee, and a hint of leather. The mouth-feel is thick and rich, and the finish long, but not overpowering.
