Deer, Bear & Moose’s Jura-stick adventure #29.

Scotland's remote Jura Island, an isolated Jurassic Whisky Park of sorts, is home to a 2011 Single Malt gem discovered by our taste explorers, the Deer, Bear & Moose trio. This Whisky, now DBM #29, encapsulates the wild spirit of Jura spliced with the refined artistry of Scottish Whisky-engineering.

DBM #29, extracted from two Jura hogsheads, is an 11-year-old prehistoric creature that matured to perfection in a Bourbon cask. It presents a sun-drenched straw color and a symphony of marzipan, almonds, bitter chocolate, honey, and citrus aromas. The palate is an oily, slightly astringent journey with robust oaky notes and candied fruit.

This sensory expedition surpasses man's mastery over nature, proving that nature always finds a way to astonish us! Deer, Bear & Moose Isle of Jura 2011 Single Malt Scotch Whisky – a rare find for discerning Whisky enthusiasts.

Nice

This one I like the most out of the DBM collection.

Interesting Blend

Every pour seems to express a bit differently. The first few from the bottle were rather astringent and sharp, not an exciting start, however the recent ones have been a bit more fruit forward while still maintaining a recognizable scotch profile. The Marzipan, chocolate, and honey notes listed are non-existent which is what I was looking forward to the most. Still an enjoyable pour, but not quite as elevated as the price would suggest.

Nail polish

Horrible. Undrinkable. I really wanted to like this. It seemed like nothing came from the wood aging. Strong almost nail polish taste. I thought maybe just neck pour. So I put it back and tried 2 months later. Won’t even use in cocktail. Absolutely the worst spirit I have purchased. The fact that this independent bottler thought this was fine has resulted in me never buying from this IB again.
