The Sweet sipper from the Caribbean.
Originally coming from Guatemala the distillers of Zaya Rum became part of a bigger conglomerate under the ownership of Diageo. The production moved to Trinidad and Tobago where it is distilled since 2008. The Zaya Gran reserva recipe is supposedly a big secret that consists of a precise blend that is similar to the original Guatemalan Rum.
Zaya Gran Reserva 12 YO is a blend of 3 to 5 Rums from Trinidad and Tobago carefully selected and blended by their Master Blender. Each of the Rums is created from virgin sugar cane harvested from the islands. The pressed juice is fermented with and double distilled in copper stills. It is then aged in medium charred Whiskey and Bourbon white oak casks for 12 years minimum. This careful process of production brought this Rum a lot of recognition and many rewards which is more than appropriate for this easy sipper!
