Another breathtaking masterpiece by the good Limestone Branch folk.

What would happen if the descendants of the legendary Beam family got the itch to reenter the distilling business? This is what would happen… meet Limestone Branch Distillery.

Steve and Paul Beam launched their fledgling distillery and released their first super-premium Spirits in 2015. The initial results were so promising, that industry giant Luxco bought a 50% stake to provide distribution and expansion capital. So far their line-up contains three gold-medal-winning Whiskies and they are just getting started.

The first Yellowstone brand Whiskey was created by Taylor & Williams in the late 1800s. The brand changed hands many times over the years, but most recently arrived at Luxco — who has partnered with Limestone Branch to revitalize the brand.

And it makes sense because Steve and Paul’s great-granduncle was the original distiller for the brand back in the day.

Every year, the good folk at Limestone Branch release a limited-edition Bourbon that’s different from anything else you can get your hands on. In 2021, Yellowstone Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was no different.

Taking a 7YO Bourbon finished in Armagnac casks and a 15YO aged Bourbon, the Amarone blending with the Bourbon is simply perfection. Come for the custom bottle with a high-end natural cork and stay for the mouthcoating flavors of black currant, cherry, and oxidized fruit.

Bourbons have very prominent notes of vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.

Limestone Branch Distillery, which produces Yellowstone Bourbon, also makes Minor Case Bourbon and Bowling & Burch Gin.

"Remember that iconic poster from World War II showing Rosie the Riveter as a patriotic American woman doing her part for the war effort? Well, hundreds of businesses did their part too, and the Bourbon distillers stepped right up with ‘em.

Distilleries all over Kentucky and Tennessee were re-tooled to distill fuel alcohol and ferment penicillin cultures to treat wounded soldiers."

Pinhook’s high-proof Bourbon won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, while the Straight Rye Whiskey won Double Gold the following year. In 2021, their Bourbon War Vertical Series 5 Year and the 2021 Flagship Bourbon won a Gold Medal each, with a Double Gold going to their Tiz Rye Time Vertical Series 5 Year. Pinhook is evidently doing something right!

Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.

Yellowstone Bourbon has had several owners throughout its history, including J.B. Dant, D.H. Taylor, The Glenmore Distillery, United Distillers & Vintners, the David Sherman Company, Heaven Hill, and David Sherman (now known as Luxco).
