Yamazaki 2017 Limited Edition: Each year, there’s a different blend that delivers something special and confirms that the Japanese really know their way around a Whisky.
Yamazaki Puncheon 2013 Release: Puncheon casks. Never heard of ‘em? Quite alright. They’re barrels that can hold twice as much liquid as your typical hogshead. So the liquid inside matures slowly and really takes on the flavors from the cask—no rush, here. Bottled in 2013, this Yamazaki has spent some time getting to know its Puncheon cask and you can taste it. Oh, and heads up: this one has no age statement.
Yamazaki 1993 Single Cask No. 3Q70048 Heavily Peated: Yes, Peatzilla! This is marvelous, jaw-dropping monster of a Whisky. This Yamazaki stands out not just because of its peat—which is pretty unconventional for a Yamazaki—but because it’s bottled at a mind-boggling 62% ABV. It’s also one of only 492 bottles out there. Rare and oh-so-rewarding.
