Reviews and Tasting Notes

Appearance / Color
Warm Chestnut

Nose / Aroma / Smell
There are fewer caramel notes than normal Woodford, but more nuts and toasted grains with light florals and plenty of oak shining through.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is smooth and hotter than we expected with notes of toasted granola and s’mores and a hint of orchard fruits in the distance.

Finish
The finish is long — longer than "normal" Woodford and rich with leathers and walnuts.

Devan,
This is tough, I think this is a fairly smooth whiskey especially for the price but, the flavor of this whiskey is unbearable. I'm a huge fan of the woodford bourbon and Rye varieties and wanted to try one of their other selections. This will sit on my shelf for guests whom I do not care for.

Jerry,
Replaced Eagle Rare with this in my office decanter. I like Eagle better but it was out. Was going to get the wheat version but went with the malt. Has a younger nose. Grain but more green than malted. Not quite grassy but grain for sure. But the malt gets there when tasted. Quck spice on the tongue, but the length...this stuff lingers. I have to second Nicholas - keep drinking it. It gets smoother. I have it as a 6 now. I expect that to rise to a high 7 before it's done.
