The Tale of Two Barrels.

Hailing from the world’s Bourbon capital Kentucky comes Woodford Reserve Distillery, formerly known as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery. Dear old Oscar strategically chose the distillery’s site due to its generous supply of pristine iron-free and calcium-rich limestone water—a decision that would pay dividends well into the future. The distillery was founded at a time when Henry Bell was playing with steam-powered boats, and Napoleon was well kicking it off in Russia. Nowadays, it is in the good hands of Master Distillers Chris and Elizabeth McCall, who still use the ancient copper pot stills and cypress wood fermenters. The couple has played a vital role in driving innovation to the Woodford Reserve, believing that making the world’s finest Bourbon is both a science and an art at the same time! This historic distillery is also a National Landmark and is tremendously proud of being one of Kentucky’s oldest and best-preserved Whiskey-producing factories today.

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Flaviar Member Select 2022 stands out from the rest of the Woodford bunch, as it was made from a blend of two barrels, carefully matured for six good years. Its mash bill comprises 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley, making it a feisty and fiery Bourbon. This bad boy was kept in heat-cycled barrel houses that give its illustrious color and iconic flavor—bottled for Flaviar members only. It’s a good day to be on our side, and it will be made even better by a sip of this incredible Member Select Spirit!

Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
Bourbon must be made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.
Bourbons have very prominent notes of vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.

Pinhooking means purchasing and rearing a foal based on its pedigree and either selling it or turning it into a champ racing horse. The same idea is behind Pinhook Bourbon: they source young Whiskey to mature and blend it into a blue-ribbon sipping Bourbon.

Bourbon was declared "The Official Spirit of America" by an Act of Congress signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
