Top reviews for Wolfburn Morven:
— Superb
— I got this as part of a sample pack. Great Scotch!! Can't wait till my bottle gets here !!
— Love it! I would buy this one before I ever buy Johnny Walker Black. What a surprise. In the description it says it’s a Highlander but has a peaty flavor with a sweet finish. It has more of a Lowly scotch flavor. I have always been more of a Highland region scotch drinker. This is definitely one of my new favorites!!

Vincent,
I am sure this is good scotch but I do not like scotch. Too smoky for my taste
Shaw,
I got all the notes on this, because I love scotch and good at tasting for these things. I adore smoky flavors, but the smoky flavor overpowered a lot of the notes. You'd definitely be better off having this particular scotch on the rocks. I normally prefer my drinks neat, but I tried both on the rocks and neat with this one, and it was alright.
I have to say I'd take my Monkey Shoulder/Glenfiddich/other less expensive bottles over this any day, and don't plan to spend the amount on a full bottle, I'd go for an Ardbeg 10 with how a whole bottle of this is priced.
I am being rather generous with my rating, since I did enjoy the fruit notes I got on this. I'm honestly at a loss. I'd give this a higher rating if a bottle wasn't so expensive, the price is absolutely mad for this bottle. If the price drops to around $35USD or less I'd say pick this up, but as it stands it is not worth the price at all.
Joe,
My experience with scotch is limited, but there was too much peat/smoke for my liking.
guest,
Very Smokey, luckily I’m into that.
Daniel,
Very smooth, initial floral burst and I got a hint of smoke on the back end
John,
Definitely unique - the smell is horrible, the taste is better than expected, and the finish takes away from a decent taste. I am not a Scotch drinker, but in my opinion, the initial smell ruins the remaining experience.
Spencer,
Ruff after taste...apple at the end and then bite!
Brian,
I wanted to like it I really did. But I feel the strong peat, smoke and spice is definitely an acquired taste. I’m more of a sweeter spirit kind of guy so take this review with a grain of salt it definitely tasted quality. But over all it’s just not for me.
Richard,
Received the Wolfburn Morven Single Malt in my sample kit. While not an avid Scotch drinker, I do enjoy my 15yr Dalmore. The Wolfburn tasted like fermented Band Aid water. Left that taste on my pallet for 2 days! I have had Military Special Scotch that tasted better!
John,
At first I wasn’t expecting much. This whisky is basically clear so I assume it’s pretty young. It was surprisingly enjoyable tho. A little bit of sweetness, candied nuts, saltwater brine, decent bit of peat smoke, little iodine. Very good but way too expensive, can’t justify the price.
guest,
Smokey notes are strong and inviting but from first sip it tastes similar to the smell of new playing cards mixed with wet diaper. Would not recommend to anyone. Ever.
Rick,
Extremely Smokey with a hint of leather bitter to the taste. Not particularly my type of whiskey
Tori,
Definitely better to my pallet on ice. Strong smoke and peet flavor.
Conor,
The peat flavor was over powering. For someone who doesn’t typically drink scotch, I don’t think I can recommend this one.
Michael,
Not a fan at all
Garrett,
As a scotch man, this was...ok. It had sufficient peat, which I love, but the medicine after taste was just too much to call this a good scotch.
Cady,
Sharp at first, disappears quickly.
Daniel,
plastic smell and taste
Clay,
Smooth, but bold flavor.
Jonathan,
Plastic aroma, tasted like an old band aid
Leonard,
I’m really new to this but this is the first time I’ve ever experienced distinct notes. The Smokiness is apparent upon opening and fruity notes appear after going down.
David,
Love it!
Deborah,
This scotch is touted as being very light peat, unfortunately the taste told the opposite story. A little too much for my taste, but if you’re a peat-loving scotch fan, this one will be up your alley.
Jose,
Was in my Welcome Tasting Box, very nice surprise. The other two were burbons, which I’m not a fan of at all. This tastes as it could very well be the cousin of one of the Taliskers, so I truly enjoyed and recommend it to any Scotch fans (especially Isaly lovers)... am def going to get a bottle!
Jeff,
Enjoyed this one. Nice peat taste and very smooth
Logan,
Did not really taste much smoke. Just..bitter. And not that smooth. I've had Scotch at half the price that seemed more complicated and flavorable.
Cory,
Pleasantly surprised here, heavy peat and smoke.
Melissa,
Sorry, not for me, tastes like a Band-aid or medicine.
Jay,
Super, super, super smoky flavor. However, this doesn't translate to heat and burn going down. There is NO heat or burn after and it is remarkably smooth to drink while having such a distinct and overwhelming smoke flavor/nose. This would be a delight for those who want a smoke and natural flavor. I still just can't believe how smooth it is to swallow having such a strong flavor/nose.
Garrett,
New to the Scotch game so may not be schooled enough to appreciate but I have to pass on this one. I love a good smoke but I don't think this is for me.
Andy,
I love smokey heavily peated scotch. It’s hard to find a scotch that combines heavy smoke/peat with fruity notes. It’s a nice surprise when you get all of these flavors in Morven.
If you like smoked cherries or grilled peaches with your smoked pork butt, try this.
Alex,
The pepper and some is too overpowering for me. No hint of grapes or apple I could detect. When it comes to smoked scotch I’ll stick to Johnny Walker Double Black.
Ben,
Sorry for the low rating! It was so smoky and bitter; it was too much for me. This drink is too manly for me. I wish I tasted the grape and apple at the end. It would have redeemed the experience for me. I'm sure that others enjoy this more than I do, but sorry just too bitter and peaty.
Logan,
Very smokey nose, and smokey peppery flavor. Really nice for those flavors, but not my personal favorite flavor profile.
Jonathan,
Sweet nose but the smoke and pepper overpower the entire experience. Wouldn’t recommend to my circle.
Mike,
I’m not usually fond of “smoky” scotchs, but I found this one to be pretty enjoyable. Has just enough sweet to balance out the peat
Edward,
Smokey
Matthew,
Personally did not like the strong smokey/ash flavor, other than that it was smooth.
Courtney,
For someone having never tasted a Smokey peated scotch, this was pretty good. The smoke is powerful.
Sarah,
This was quite Smokey but I still found myself enjoying it. It delivered a bit of a burn but a smoother finish. Not the most enjoyable but certainly not my least favorite.
Brendan,
Tastes like ass-tray and smells like lighter fluid. Smell lingers on hand after spilling it
Michael,
Smoke is overpowering up front but tastes better toward the finish.
Christopher,
Strong smell of smoke, was expected heavy peat based on first impressions. Very light in color, like an Ardbeg. The smoke is lighter on the palate, and the scotch is very sweet and smooth, with a nice kick at 46%.
Rebecca,
Smooth, light on the peat, nutty and hint of blue cheese. I’m usually bourbon over scotch, but enjoy this!
Joshua,
A lot of burn. I do enjoy scotch, but tasted like rubbing alcohol. Did smell fruit before trying.
Karen,
No, thanks. Medicinal aftertaste.
Greg,
Too smokey for our taste.
David,
Very Smokey
Christopher,
Middle of the road for my taste, may be my pallet but didn't really bring much flavor.
Josh,
Nearly all smoke, very simple but an easy drink.
Richard,
Some smoke to start off. Long finish.
Ed,
Smooth enough, but I taste smoke without much else. Feels like it’s missing depth.
Richard,
Smooth. Light. Good smoke.
Andrew,
Smokey but smooth. Makes me curious about their signature single malt
Caressa,
A bit Smokey but was very smooth.
Jose,
A little on the smoky side for me. It has a strong aroma and the finish lingers for a while.
Matthew,
Smokey but smooth
Chandreshh,
Smoky and smooth
Kimberly,
Amazing strong peaty aroma, a little sweet on the tongue and heavy on the swallow. Solid scotch
Rafael,
Superb
Scott,
Immediate smoke, nutty, dry
Cameron,
A smoky flavor first with a hint of a floral taste afterwards.
BRIAN,
This is very good I love smoky scotch
Patrick,
Subtle, enjoyable, and overpriced
David,
perfect amount of smoke.. loved it
Isaac,
Very classic highland, if you like and know the region, this compares well to a ten/twelve year old from any other highland distillery. Looking forward to something with an older age, these folks seem to be doing everything I want to see. Non-chill filtered. Natural color. 46% abv. Slightly salty, big grain flavor.
Mathew,
Once you get past the smoke there’s some interesting hints of fruit here. Cherry and maybe apple. Finishes spicy but with an almost candy sweet undertone. For people that like smoky peppery whiskies this is a good one. It’s not really my thing though.
Tim,
A little sharp but full of flavour and complexity, a lovely sipping drink. Pairs well with a nice Pale Ale chaser - for me Brewdog Dead Pony. Will buy this one more.
Cameron,
Not something that I would normally go for but as part of the testing box, more than worth the adventure. Unfortunately not something I would buy in the bottle as it was just too smoky for me. First sip was smoky without much else but flavour profile progressed with each sip thereafter. Not for those who are opposed to a slightly sharp finish.
Martin,
Initial nosing reveals a sweet smoke with a dash of peat. A bit of apricot, dried fruit and some grape (soda) added to to the smell as well. There is an initial push of smoke but once it rolls around in your mouth there is a blend of sweet flavors. After the third or fourth sip you will find that you will taste more of the sweet oatmeal cookie with some fruit followed by the smoke. The smoke lingers and it has a long flavor. I’m not a smoke fan at all, but I certainly enjoyed this.
Antti,
It is a is a very good, complex, Single Malt Scotch Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a rich & nutty life leads to a rich & spicy death with hints of shortbread, ginger, dried fruits & baking spices.
René,
Lighter scotch, good as an into to the more peatier bottles.
Kevin,
Very smoky, but sweet, lighter Scotch
Smooth
Bert,
Exellent peat
Michael,
Not enjoyable, the spicy overtones ruined the drink
Cody,
Nice flavor, smoke carries through well.
Elvis,
Amazing smell and taste! A great everyday smoked whisky.
Julia,
Smells good but too bitter, burns lips
Dave,
Too smoky for my liking
Mirosław,
I wouldn't consider it as very peaty, however indeed it gives a strong accent and has mostly smoky profile.
James,
I got this as part of a sample pack. Great Scotch!! Can't wait till my bottle gets here !!
Giulio,
Very peaty, opens up a little with water but retains a strong smoky profile. The peat covers most other flavors but if you like smoke it's a pleasant finish
