W.L. Weller Special Reserve "Green Label" is the original Wheated Bourbon with a smooth profile.
The Stitzel-Weller Distillery is stuff of Bourbon legend. It was founded on Derby Day in 1935 by Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle himself and some of the most legendary Bourbons and brands were made there. The distillery itself was closed in 1992 and is now a museum-like adjunct of Bulleit Bourbon Experience owned by Diageo. But there is a lot of left-over Weller Bourbon in the storage lofts, along with "orphan" casks from other distilleries. But the Weller brand still produces some of the most sought-after Bourbons of the day — all flowing from the stills in the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Weller is sometimes called "The Original Wheated Bourbon." That’s because it is distilled from a mash bill of corn, wheat, and barley… no rye at all. And that combination always yields a smoother Spirits with fewer spices notes and more toffee/caramel notes. W. L. Weller Special Reserve is their Gold Medal-winning entry into the category. We say it makes an exceptional sipping Bourbon at 45% ABV.

Bourbon matures quicker than Scotch due to higher temperatures in American warehouses.
Enjoy this bourbon any time. Great flavor that keeps on going.
Terry,
So far my favorite wheated bourbon. Smooth and sweet. (keep in mind that I haven't tasted the expensive stuff).
Eric,
A great bourbon as it's very sweet. The introductory Weller and if you find it at a reasonable price it's a good buy.
Jerry,
Classic Welters with good complexity and delicious camel and oak floors with a smokey finish.
Al,
Good not great. Want to try more. A little less than smooth on finish
guest,
Very smooth and very minimal of a bite
Salvador,
Don't drink this alone, people will talk. Better to share this with only those you deem worthy.
Luke,
It’s pretty good. I like Buffalo Trace better
John,
Personal Favorite! If buyout prefer wheayednthis is the one.
Aaron,
Incredibly smooth. Nice carmal flavor. I will certainly be on the lookout for another bottle for my bar.
Morgan,
Best $40 bourbon on the market.
David,
Smooth.
Billy,
Love Weller. Favorite Bourbon, second to only Pappy in my opinion.
Timothy,
This is 8/10 at the normal cost of about$50 for the liter bottle. $113 is laughable pricing for something that is at best a good mixer.
TR,
Very nice wheated bourbon, don't over pay for this but worth drinking!!!
Jeffrey,
Enjoyable and smooth. Drink it neat Nd let it open up a little and enjoyed it a lot.
Lucas,
The fragrance is strong ethanol, not very pleasant. But when you swirl it and give it some O2, you can pick out some of the sweet honey and caramel notes. The flavor is warm and floral. Some cinnamon. Warm spicy finish.
Tim,
One of the best bourbons out there. Smooth, easy drinking, a lot of flavors.
Eric,
Really nice one. Enjoyed it
guest,
caramel, vanilla on the nose... smooth! lingering chill bumps... highly recommend

Nicholas,
Outstanding! Smooth.
Tommy,
Enjoyed on the rocks or mixed cocktail
Steve,
My go to neat smooth. My favorite so far.
guest,
Just ok. The green Apple notes were too pervasive. Very light. Not much depth.
Mal,
Decent wheat and the antique is great too. This price tho is outrageous. Literally paid $27 for this bottle.
Brett,
It’s Weller. Pwn’s my hole.
elijah,
Decent wheater. Go get makers 46 instead
Conor,
Powdered honey, apples, vanilla. Great to try but I wouldn't ever pay more than $40. That being said, its impossible to find at this price since the secondary market demands a $100 minimum. All in all, a classic bourbon but not priced like one.
Joseph,
Nice and enjoyable and very easy to drink.
Christopher,
Great wheater! Solid in every way
guest,
Every Weller is amazing.
Dan,
Awesome - one of the best I’ve had
matthew,
Its been around for a long time back when cheap bourbon was bourbon and Americans go to was Jack Daniel's jim beam, ancient age, and there was W,L Weller, Cheap semi smooth , and easy mixer to a coke or Pepsi, it definitely was not a bring to you freinds house and share boubon, untill these so called hipsters came along, and the price is all up hill from here
Brian,
Very smooth and sweeter than a typical bourbon. Flavors of tobacco, oak, and molasses.
Shaun,
Love it neat - notes of honey and caramel. Can sip on it all night.
Andrew,
Not bad, not special. I picked up a standard 5th at local. Worth the buy to say I did but wouldn’t pick up again
Cody,
Amazing bourbon, like drinking a wheated caramel treat, with a hint of spice.
Thomas,
A fine bourbon at it’s 1990’s price of $17.95 per 1.75 lt. bottle. A darn good wheated bourbon at below $35 a 750ml. A waste Of money at over $50.
James,
Amen brother.
phillip,
Sweet smooth 👍 i like anything from buffalo trace
Pamela,
Love it! Not really available much.
Jon,
Nice smooth everyday sipper. Price will change ratings. MSRP 30$
Barry,
Very smooth love the finish.
Ryan,
Great taste and one of the best. Prices are usually crazy and would suggest waiting for under $30
Chad,
Caramel sweetness, wood and floral.
Jacob,
Good not great. Great if u can find it under 35 doll hairs
Daniel,
My go to pour along with OWA 107, Blade & Bow and Blanton’s
Joshua,
Outstanding. One of my favorites.
Kevin,
Well, my palate is still developing so three glencairns in since I purchased I am starting to pick up and appreciate the nuances of this bottle. The nose picks up the sweet smell of butterscotch and Carmel, which are the first notes on the tongue followed by a lasting long charred oak on the back tongue. Nice smooth finish every time.
William,
Cheaper Pappy!
Tyler,
Splash of chilled filtered water and a cigar type spirit right here
Richard,
This bourbon is decent. I see it selling above retail a lot since it carries the Weller name. It's a good bourbon, but its not worth paying above retail for this. There are many other better bourbons when it is sold above retail. It is a good buy at retail.
Ryan,
Smooth and delicious. One of the best I’ve found. Hard to find though so love that it’s available here!
james,
Amazing how good it is. The finish is incredibly smooth.
Jon,
It is an exceptional bourbon. It is great to drink neat!
Thomas,
Love the full taste
Philip,
Picked up a bottle at the local liquor store for $27. Factoring in that price it gets an 8 or 9.
If I paid more than 50, it would be a 7.
If I paid $100 for it, I would be disappointed.
Nose is light, hard to pinpoint, maybe tropical fruit. It reminds me of apple cider that’s been aged in tequila barrels.
Mouthfeel is nice, it’s thick and coats your tongue.
The flavors are subtle at first, but develop into a butterscotch candy and cinnamon spice. Finish is a little harsher than expected.
guest,
Exceptionally smooth. Big flavors of caramel and vanilla with a general sweetness that makes a every sip worthwhile
