— Well, being a bourbon guy ..... this is way better than any Wild Turkey I’ve ever had. Smooth and great flavor and not a “haaaaa” kind of finish from wild turkey.

Luis,
Finish tasted like grass
guest,
Have never really been a wild turkey fan. This however, was worth every sip. I drink it straight. For me, my initial thought is it has a tingly feel upon hitting your mouth..... but once it goes down it was extremely smooth. Had a small sweet finish in the end. Very tasty drink and super glad I added it to my collection.
Andrew,
Great for sipping neat! Great flavor, could use a little more of the mesquite smoke for my personal preference. But what is there adds a sweetness that’s different than other bourbons I’ve had. Definitely recommend giving it a shot.
Joe,
Mesquite. Good flavor for price. Sweet and spicy.
Adam,
7 to 8 I’ll drink that happily
Lee,
didn't really care for it. kind of flat tasting
Mark,
Great bourbon! Caramel, citrus, and spice. I tried it side by side with the darker wild turkey Kentucky spirit. This LongBranch has a nice balance if you like a slightly lighter bodied bourbon. Was good neat and over ice. Would recommend, especially for this mid 30s price, well worth it.
ERIC,
Very approachable bourbon. During my whiskey journey I found an affinity for peated scotch and the kick of rye, but I could not get warmed up to bourbon. This one has me coming around. Got a foot of snow I had to shovel today, this warmed me up when I got back in the house.
Jeffrey,
Smooth. Almost too smooth.
Brian,
In all honesty I found this whiskey to be a little ‘meh’. Maybe the mesquite charcoal filtration took something out, but there’s not enough bite for me. But it might be just right for some - that’s the beauty of individual tastes.
Rebecca,
Good flavor with a little spice.
Andrew,
Good everyday bourbon
Christopher,
Oak, caramel, maple syrup, rye spice and maybe some red fruit on the palate make this a tasty, approachable bourbon. Not too sweet, not too hot. Straightforward and tasty bourbon!
David,
Unique approachable bourbon. Love sipping on this while out grilling. Will buy again.
Antonio,
LOVEEE
Kyle,
Needs more mesquite charcoal. I was sorta hoping this would be a peated whiskey on a budget, but it is honestly too subtle for me. Now, the whiskey in here is great. It has lots of cherry wood flavors, like Michter's on a budget. But, I was really looking forward to a more dry wood smoke from that mesquite charcoal filtering,
Kelly,
It's not strong on the nose. Vanilla and a floral sweetness. Carmel and a slight corn sweetness to taste. I do not notice the smoke from the Mesquite. Finish is nice! Overall I like it, similar to Wild Turkey, but maybe a little less spice and a hint more sweet.
Forrest,
First smoky bourbon I’ve had. But there’s the usual sweetness there too. Liked it a lot at this price.
Jason,
Great for the price point
guest,
Definitely on the sweeter side
Jon,
This is my favorite bourbon. It has a distinctive taste that I find attractive. I gave a bottle to a friend who said, "The flavor just exploded in my mouth!" I couldn't have said it better.
Jason,
I do not like the wood notes on this. I’m sure it’s good but it not my bag
Seth,
Very smooth and sweet with a little bite. It's a high-quality go-to.
Andre,
Love this bourbon!! In my opinion it is a must try for any wild turkey fan. The back story is gimmicky but Matthew McConaughey has a future in whiskey if acting ever falls through.
Justin,
I enjoy the up front taste of sweetness on this one. Not particularly complex, but exactly what I'm looking for if I'm going to have a few drams.
Franchesca,
Notes of vanilla and oak, really smooth
christian,
Nice and mellow
MIKE,
Silky texture, but a little thin; nice flavor, but not quite bold enough.
Ben,
This is very good, I really notice cherry and it's my go to when sitting around a bond fire.
Zach,
Like it.
Nathan,
Full mellow flavor
Michael,
Taste the barrel; oak, vanilla tannins, woody, and sweet. Easy to drink, neat or with an single ice cube.
I usually focus my tastes in heat and mash. But this is a wonderful change of pace.
Mat,
Decent bourbon, I got a lot of sweet caramel notes.
Mat,
Decent bourbon, I got a lot of sweet caramel notes.
Tom,
I like this bourbon but its not at the top of my Turkey list. Interesting and very easy to drink.
Alex,
Really nice bourbon. Strong caramel and spice flavor.
Mario,
Great taste. Hint of Texas mesquite. No bite, very subtle. Great sipping drink . Pairs nicely with a Connecticut or Cameron cigar.
Harry,
Very very good for daily sip. I'd tell Matthew McConaughey that I like Russell's Reserve just a bit better though, but still......no question - it's a must buy.
Jason,
Light sipping Boubon. One of my first ones to simply drink over ice!
guest,
Really nice sweet bourbon with a bit of smoke. If you can get this on a sale, pick it up. Not sure it’s worth the full price tag.
Alex,
One of my absolute favorites. Worthy of Mathew McConaughey’s incredible representation of Wild Turkey. Had the pleasure of visiting the Wild Turkey distillery last year, and Longbranch was the gem I brought home with me. Have only found it at a few speciality stores, so rare enough that it calls for occasion- but priced right that it’s made for sharing. Wish I had a bottle right in front of me to give a legitimate tasting review.
Andre,
really like the full flavor
Jonathan,
An immediate smokiness is obvious, but followed closely with orange and cherry juices. The spice is derivative from charred oak speaking to the mesquite refinement; however, is cool on the palate. Slight floral and woodiness undertones with a touch of peanut oil on the finish add to the overall surprisingly complex palate for its low-proof.
Longbranch is a collaboration of Wild Turkey’s creative director Matthew McConaughey and master distiller Eddie Russell. The company says it was “inspired by McConaughey's Kentucky and Texas roots, this rare small-batch Kentucky bourbon is refined with Texas Mesquite and oak charcoals – a unique method that deepens the flavor and complexity of the whiskey.” This is the first time Wild Turkey has released a product that features a signature of someone other than the master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell.
McConaughey said in the company’s press release, "Longbranch, in its simplest form, is an extended hand, inviting a friend into your family. So the branch that was extended to me from the Russells was a long one, one that reached from Kentucky to Texas and back again. I offered the Mesquite from my great state to add to their legendary Kentucky whiskey and together we made Longbranch."
To create Longbranch’s signature flavor, McConaughey and Russell spent countless hours sharing notes, then, after two years of testing, perfected a proprietary process that combines two separate charcoal filtration methods to give Longbranch a smooth and full finish. The first of the filtration process uses charcoal made from American White Oak and the second uses charcoal made from Texas Mesquite wood, giving the bourbon notes of smoky sweetness. Made with 8-year-old Wild Turkey Bourbon as a small batch expression bottled at 86-proof.
“When we were creating Wild Turkey Longbranch, we talked at length about how to make a product that represents elements of both Texas and Kentucky,” said Russell. “Our goal was to make a straight bourbon whiskey with a soft sweetness that was still unmistakably Wild Turkey. The result was a bourbon that we both truly enjoy drinking neat, and look forward to sharing with others.”
Toke,
Instant favorite. As smooth and balanced as McConaughey himself.
David,
Smoky and smooth. I truly enjoy this his one.
Jeremy,
A one time favorite, wonderful smoky, Texas flavor. Maybe some leather?
Chris,
A nice Texas mesquite twang. On my favorites
Joseph,
Smokey and smooth, one of my favorites!
Danny,
Super mesquite, long finish, not my favorite. I bought a bottle and still have 3/4 of it left.
Blake,
Nose: light vanilla, light woody herbaceous, honey, toasted marshmallow
Taste: prominent clove, smoke (as if you opened your mouth around a campfire), light vanilla
Finish: next to none
Seth,
Great initial taste. Love the sweet caramel and subtle vanilla that blends great with the smoke and spice. Unfortunately the flavors seem to quickly disappear and leave very little left to savor.
Mathew,
Smooth and full of flavor
guest,
Smooth and sweet, with a noticeable honey and peach taste.
It’s good, but the price isn’t worth it. A $20ish bottle of their other bourbon is just about the same quality.
Chase,
Touch of smoke enhances boozy cocktails like the boulevardier
Griff,
I was ready to dismiss this before I had my first taste. Boy was I wrong. Great taste and awesome finish. Worth trying!
Bret,
Much better then I had hoped. Smooth and a little sweet at first, nice, somewhat short, rye finish. I'm not a Wild Turkey guy, but the mesquite charcoal gives it a nice flavor from start to finish. Definitely drink again.
Lori,
Nice and smooth on the rocks. No additives required
Richard,
Pretty standard Wild Turkey fare... can't taste much difference from the 101. Nice but not memorable
Derek,
The mesquite charcoal adds a unique note to Wild Turkey, but it also removes the oils that make Wild Turkey enjoyable. Very short linger, and less complexity in this Longbranch version.
Brian,
Well, being a bourbon guy ..... this is way better than any Wild Turkey I’ve ever had. Smooth and great flavor and not a “haaaaa” kind of finish from wild turkey.
Rebekah,
One of our favorite
Amanda,
Phenomenal!!!
Miro,
Very clean tasting, dry not overly sweet. Little alcohol on the back side but heck at $32.00.
When tasted on the rocks it’s very light but flavor is there.
Kyle,
Smooth light and smoky bourbon.
Aaron,
Very smooth and flavorful. For the price point a good everyday sipper.
Joe,
Had some of this last night at a bar (one ice cube). I really enjoyed it. It’s ridiculously smooth. There’s a gentle mesquite smokiness balanced with both sweet and spicy. I’m not usually impressed by celebrity ‘vanity’ projects but I have to say that Mr. McConaughey and Mr. Wild Turkey made something great here.
Ken,
Smooth and tasty, you just can't go wrong with anything from Wild Turkey.
Nick,
If you like a smooth bourbon with caramel, smoke, and spice, this is the bourbon for you. Sadly, it’s wasn’t my favorite for the price.
Roger,
Tasty and smooth with the perfect hint of smokiness hidden in every sip. Definitely unique enough to make my collection. Bravo
Zack,
middle of the road aroma, above average complexity and drinkability, a little expensive for what it is
Madison,
Solid, drinkable bourbon. Isn't too harsh and has a nice sweet smokiness.
Michael,
Interesting take on bourbon. Different in finish than what was expected, but the perspective will grow on you. Quite good.
Jedediah,
Pretty nice mixing byron. Great in an old fashion.
John,
You can really taste the mesquite, it has more of a bite than some others but still good.
Benjamin,
Nice flavor, but a bit soft at the low proof. Very drinkable, but could be so much more.
Will,
Its a good albeit a little too simple for the price. Solid bourbon all in all.
James,
As smooth as its creator most pleasant indeed. Wood notes give it a nice finish.
Marlon,
Oh man! This is a superb collaboration if there ever was one..the best of Kentucky and Texas. I had the privilege of tasting this in Kentucky at Wild Turkey’s Distillery and it didn’t disappoint. The hint of mesquite blends nicely with WT’s mash bill to give you a gentleman sipping bourbon. I’ve since bought two bottles for my enjoyment.
