Wigle with it…
These artisan small batch Whiskey makers set up shop in the Strip District neighborhood of Pittsburgh in 2012, and in case you were wondering, it’s pronounced “wiggle.” As the first distillery to open in the area since the 1920s, the brand is named after Phillip Wigle. But don’t let the cute name fool you this man was anything but, convicted of treason in 1794, and sentenced to hang for his actions during the great Whiskey Rebellion. Quite the rambunctious chap Wigle was said to have beaten up a tax collector and burned down his house. Only later to be pardoned by George Washington himself. Wigle distillery uses locally sourced, organic grains, distilling their Whiskey from scratch, milling their grains on site.
As Wigle distillery’s oldest Spirit, this organic wheat Whiskey has been aged for 3 years in 30 and 53 gallon barrels. With a bigger body than its younger brethren, it packs a powerful punch of leather, cereal, and cinnamon. Combined with a rich mouth feel, it’ll surely Whisk(ey) you away to your happy place.
