Member Reviews and Ratings of Widow Jane 10 Year Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey
I really enjoyed Widow Jane 10 year Bourbon, it's a smooth and easy drinking Bourbon
Smooth draught with cherry and apple tastes and a smokey rye finish
The finish is the bomb. I like the smooth taste, with only the slightest of heat.
Really like this bourbon. Smooth.
Warm and golden
Don’t hate it, don’t love it. Wouldn’t get again at the price point.
This is one of my go-tos. It's really smooth, but with a lot of character still. I find that it's got quite a long finish, which I really like on top of the age of the 10 year bourbon.
Good bourbon, but in my view there are many better bourbons in this price range.
Love it, super great taste, smoothness, silky, creamy
Smooth, bold and sweet... loved every sip.
Slightly sweet, complex flavor, good for sipping.
I can understand why people would love this bourbon - it is indeed very distinct. There's a lot of complexity there! What hindered my progress in exploring said complexity was the somewhat raspy charred edges I got on the finish. It could be that other bourbons I drank in this tasting (3 total, including this) were too sweet. Perhaps I'll revisit under other circumstances down the road.
Solid bourbon. Very smooth
Excellent, very smooth, great after taste!
One of my favorite above average-price choices, the 14 year is insanely good, but hard to find. The 10 year is easy to get and provides a solid mix of spice and complexity with a smooth finish that is not too sweet or flowery.
I purchased the Widow 10 year because of the reviews. Normally, I drink higher proof boubons such as New Riff Single Barrel (Absolutely Delicious). This is sweet on the front end with a little burn on the back end. I would purchase this bottle again.
Strong cinnamon taste but decent. Can taste the chocolate.
Fucking awesome aromatics. All around love the roll of flavors, finishing notes are a big plus! I feel like it’s fairly crisp due to the mineral water used.
Rich smokey flavor!
I got the vanilla and a lot of cinnamon - soft burn
This is a tremendous pour. It starts with a hint of sweetness and finishes with very little heat.
I thoroughly enjoy it!
Very good sipping whiskey
Good NY Bourbon! It's not 12 yr old pappy but good never the less...
Strong chat on the pallet if you like that
Smooth, vanilla after taste
It would not be my go-to if a friend was visiting but gladly let them drink it so I do not have to. I would not buy this bottle again.
This is a really good easy drinking bourbon with grate flavors. Really good price too.
A little on the expensive side but delicious nonetheless
This bourbon was a recommendation from a friend. An enjoyable bottle, just not sure it is worth the price tag.
Wife liked this one, sweet and smooth!
I like the uniqueness of it, it really grows on you as you drink it.
Smooth, powerful and loaded with darker fruits.
Smooth from start to finish. Good vanilla notes.
I drank on the rocks. Very smooth. Definitely got the cinnamon. Good for sipping!
Strong, dark fruits and cinnamon. Quite exceptional for the fact that it’s a blend.
My favorite bourbon. Home in a glass.
I was surprised by this one. It was definitely smooth but a little too fruity, and almost sweet, to be my go-to. I have only tried it straight up, but I bet it would make a fantastic old fashion.
Delicious flavor and an ultimate sipping whiskey
Absolutely love this whiskey, it is an easy drink for experienced and new whiskey drinkers. This is the spirit that got my wife into drinking whiskeys and bourbons. Very flavorful and a nice surprising citrusy taste
Good strength and great taste. Smells great too. Enjoyed my tour of their Distillery as well in Red Hook.
Mellow, orange nose gives way to a pleasant taste of vanilla and caramel with some spice. Really enjoyable, clean tasting dram.
Delicious, smooth, great finish
Very smooth, not overwhelming. Nice whiskey
Great flavor with a smooth light finish.
Enjoyed the taste and smell. Would recommend it
Had in a tasting sampler, would definitely buy again for the cabinet or as a gift. Lovely, deep flavor. Deep butterscotch, more heat in aroma, a little whiff of cherry
caramel, sweet, vanilla, toffee, butterscotch (but not like ponderosa pine butterscotch), little bit of nail polish remover; little bit of cherry (almost like cherry coke), higher proof (but mellower on ice), mouthwatering; I really like it
Very good! This one is my favorite!
Not a fan
I really liked this bourbon, it went down so smooth.
Corn, oak, caramel. Liked it better with a piece of ice. Decent glass of bourbon.
Good everyday drinking bourbon, nothing special
One of our favorites!
Love the smooth taste as it went down. Definitely a wish list!
Sassy in all the right ways...
This has such great reviews that I’m not sure the tasting sample I received was really this. The nose was an unusual mix of eggnog and fuel. It was definitely better with ice, but still not good.
This is a great bourbon! Smooth, great tasting, hints of caramel, chocolate. Rolls on the tongue.
Pretty smooth, enjoyed the taste. Nice after taste on tongue.
Nice taste..in the range of a Buffalo Trace or Four Roses. I would buy a bottle of Widow Jane.
Too much Charred flavor which over powers the cinnamon, Caramel and chocolate.
One of my favorite bourbons.
Very smooth. Great Orange, Cinnamon, and Oak flavor.
Orange zest and corn were in the tasting profile but cinnamon was all
in the nose.
Very strong with a long finish and burn
I would buy as a staple for my bar. Great bottle!!
one of my favorite bourbons
Aroma: corn with a hint of creaminess, woody/oaky. Taste: sweet smoke/char, corn, oak. On ice: cinnamon and hints of caramel come through.
Great whiskey! Woupd love to have this as a staple in my bar.
Very enjoyable - smooth and complex, excellent balance with no flavors overpowering but all melding into a lingering mix of sweet and smokey notes.
Quite a good pour and from my home town no less. Smooth as hell.
Lots of vanilla and oak throughout, some baking spice present as well
Caramel and oak nose with orange and nutty flavors.
Smooth and sweet flavor. Slight burn at the end.
The smell was soft and taste was smooth; this is getting added to my bar
Smooth going in. Light numbing on the tongue and lips. Slight sting in the back of the throat going down. Nice and warm as it sits.
Overall the 3 main flavors stick out but not overpower the rest. Cinnamon, oak, & caramel make for a great powerhouse base to accentuate the orange and chocolate. The smooth sweet aroma of vanilla in combination with the orange make a great drink to enjoy while having a smoke - whichever smoke that is 😉
Soft nose, sweet start and spicy cinnamon brief finish that leaves a good feel on the palate
This is easily my favorite bourbon, far and away better than Woodford Reserve which used to be my fav. Nice well rounded smoke from the barrel aging.
Love this bourbon, super smooth and easy to sip neat.
Alcohol forward. A lot of spice.
Like candy in a glass.
So so good, closest thing to Blanton’s I have found with a smooth finish to boot. Crazy to think it is from New York but that is part of its claim, the water source. Absolutely delicious sipping.
Nice and smooth
Great bourbon. Used it for an Old Fashioned and it was one of the best Old Fashioned I've ever tasted. Ordering another bottle.
Ok. not great. Wouldn't order it
Vanilla in the nose. Very oaky flavor, lighter on fruit and spice in the finish. Smooth, but not as well balanced as I might like
It is an outstanding, intense, very small batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey with a rich birth; while a dry & balanced life that leads to a bold & tannic death with notes of orange, chocolate & spice.
Nice and smooth. Perfectly sweet and savory. Great cinnamon tase.
Not a fan.
out of the 2018 24 days of christmas box, this was by far my favorite.
Nothing to write home about
sweet, has a little bite, but fairly good.
Spice and chocolate..not bad , I'd buy a bottle
A bit too spicy (as in cinnamon) for me but it’s not bad. Nice nose and the flavor is robust and within my zone of tastes I like. I’m not as high on it as others, but as someone else said, if you pour me a drink of it, I’m drinking it!
Sweet ending, smooth
Favorite so far
Ok. not great. Wouldn't order it
Meh, good not great
Floral. Very floral. Drinks quite well neat with a sweet bourbon burn. Well aged with a forward spice. It screams small batch but does lack a bit of sophistication. Not one I'd spend $70 on, but I wouldn't complain if you poured me a glass.
My current favorite. It is definitely my go to
I love this bourbon. This is my every day sipper
Dark, deep flavors. A lot of oak and cinnamon.
Simply awesome. Great nose, incredible caramel and oak, soft and long vanilla finish.
It’s okay but not my first choice for bourbon.
When I opened the advent calendar today I said “yes!”; have bought multiple bottles of this, such a deal for a 10 year real quality; recommend on the rocks, a bit harsh, but water mellows it so the sweet cinnamon/carmel can come thru. The 12 year is outstanding! So much smoother; only $20 more. 10 year is more oaky.
Delicious oaky bourbon.
This was very nice
It was good. 👍🏾
A perfect whisky for the holidays. The cinnamon reigns supreme among the flavor profile and theoak is noticeable. My wife says if this was a candle she’d burn regularly! A pleasant surprise, and on the night before thanksgiving, a wonderfully festive whisky!
Nice on the nose and flavor is full. Smooth finish.
I just love this one woke up the this morning and still tasted the vanilla and caramel
Had a strange metallic finish that I didn't care for. The price point is pretty steep for a just okay bourbon.
Great smell. Oaky and charred Flavor lingers in your mouth. Goes down with no burn. Very complex and pleasant taste. Really good!
I get marzipan towards the end of this sip. I love it.
Very good and smooth. Nice finish. Not too sure about the price tag. Many others similar better priced.
One of the best bourbons I’ve had
Love it, smooth full taste that I like to share with my friends. Always have a bottle on hand
Average. Not worth the $70 price tag.
Just pleasant. Wish the flavour was deeper
Loved this bourbon! Had it at a bar and couldn't wait to get home and get my own bottle!
I love the smooth, yet not overpowering finish to this one.
very warm but rough finish
Smooth with great taste . Taste top notch
Do you remember.....your first slow dance, your first kiss...enough said.
This one was very good in my opinion. It had a lot of the rich smokey flavor that I enjoy but yet wasn't overly powering.
Nothing particularly special here other than I really like it!
Very nice whiskey. A little spicey on the way down. Makes a great old fashioned.
I like the cinnamon finish. My favorite out of the Gangs of New York tasting
Wow. My new favorite.
Great New York dram. Got the big oak, caramel and vanilla and corn on the finish.
I liked it very good taste and after taste. Great smell and good color to it to.
Smooth, delicious, have it neat or on the rocks, this is my go to!
The Widow Jane is pretty tasty. I’d recommend having it over ice—seemed to help it just a little smoother. I don’t know if I’ll purchasing it again.
Eh. A bit of a hot lingering taste. Not the best
Great on the rocks.. will be adding to the home bar..
Like drinking vanilla ice cream. super smooth
I can taste the vanilla and orange undertones. I like the not so Smokey taste. Definitely a favorite.
Not as smooth as I expected a 10 year aged bourbon to be. Must have been pretty rough when it was younger.
A bit harsh neat, better on the rocks.
I love it! I've put it aside and sip it only on the porch in the evening. Smokey, little fruity, subtle woody aftertaste. In my opinion, it should be sipped with no ice added.
This was Avery good bourbon. I would definitely buy it again.
I’m a strict bourbon drinker so this was a little different. Still very good .
More rye forward then I typically prefer but with an ice cube it has great spice, sweetness and a hint of oak. Nice bourbon.
Solid bourbon, smooth finish, good value. Keep it stocked.
Very nice bourbon. I will buy it again
Definitely at the top of my list. Smooth with a nice finish! A must buy.
One of my favorites! It’s very smooth, would be great for introducing someone to the whisky/bourbon world.
Love it! Silky smooth with tons of flavor. Best bourbon in this price range I've had in a long time.
A fine bourbon at this price. Would recommend.
Smooth! On the rocks is the only way to consume.
Rich and rewarding. Slight heat but full of of flavor. Delicious.
Not very spicy, bland .....hollow finish left me looking for something more and not finding it
smooth, like on the rocks
Two drops of water change this dramatically. Very nice!
A delicious bourbon. Good spice that has a sweet, long smooth finish. I will buy again
Scent is pungent. Initially the sweetness hits first - can really taste the vanilla. The spice follows. Interesting sensation. Drank it neat.
I've never had anything as smooth and as refined as this bourbon and it is, and will always be, in my liquor cabinet.
Great taste by it self and can't wait to mix it in my Manhattan.
I'll stock up on this one. Great find, haven't seen it anywhere here in NC. Huge Bourbon for the money in my book, bold flavor a good amount of heat/burn, something you can do on a cube or up. Either way with this one works for me.
Closest thing to Pappy in my price range.
Excited I found her....
Love, love this Bourbon! Smooth and easy burn. Recommended
I originally stumbled across Widow Jane 10 as a part of a bourbon flight at a BBQ restaurant in Silver Spring, MD and it was a huge standout from the rest. Found a bottle during a subsequent trip to Atlantic City and despaired of ever finding another. Thanks, Flaviar! Complex flavors, with a nice cherry note. I offered it to a bourbon-loving colleague who summed it up nicely: "That there is everything a bourbon should be."
No thanks I wouldn't pay $82.00for any of whiskey or bourbon no matter how good you say it is or where you get your water Jim Beam is good for me
Seriously good bourbon! I got to visit the Red Hook Brooklyn location last year and taste everything they make. The dark chocolate is really the first taste and finish
