Member Reviews and Ratings of WhistlePig 10 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey
Timothy,
Solid.
Jim,
Orange on the nose. Taste was mostly spicy rye and smoky. Too smoky for my tastes. Finish had strong burn, long and smoky
ALFREDO,
Great taste, smooth finish. Surprising for a single barrel.
Richard,
Wow... incredible. Strong cherry in the middle and super smooth.
Brian,
Perfect with one small cube of ice.
Steven,
This is the single barrel 10 year old version. 108.4percent abv. Neat found it was straight up pepper start to finish yet after just a minute over a 2 inch ice ball the start has a strong vanilla and Carmel with a good peeps finish. While I am still a novice to whiskey this has been one of the better bottles of rye that I have tried so far
Adam,
Very solid.
Robert,
i love the hint of cinnamon
Andrea,
Great
Josh,
Not my favorite! Burnt came out too strong for my liking.
Matthew,
Great rye over ice or in a Manhattan.
Tyler,
This is one that needs a little while in the glass and a small splash of water to open it up.
N: Cakey dessert qualities up front: Chocolate shavings, frosting, maple. Then the more familiar clove, cinnamon, and pumpernickel.
P: Sweet, slightly spicy entry. Pretty straightforward compared to the nose. Buttery pancakes and syrup after the initial pepper and cinnamon.
F: long, slow, and spicy.
Paul,
I have had the 10, 12, 15 and Piggy Back and all are outstanding. Whistle Pig does a great job. But I really believe the 10 is the best even though it’s the entry level. Smooth and where the bite kicks in it comes with complex flavor. This has given several notes at the finish. Sometimes nutty, sometimes vanilla, sometimes spice, leather, etc. Start here!
Bryce,
One of my personal favorites.
Sean,
Very sweet nose. Reminded of apples.
Flavor is very butterscotch, with some warm spice.
Jerry,
Loved this bottle. I like spice and this had to. Good caramel/butterscotch favor. I prefer this over the older years.
guest,
Honestly, rather unenjoyable. Tastes highly wood-forward, extremely sharp on the start and finish, and bodiless.
Corey,
Great flavor! Good spice but smooth!
Richard,
definitely taste honey at the start. smooth from start to finish. Don't drink as much rye anymore.
David,
Smells great when I opened the bottle, first sip over ice is smooth. Best rye I have tasted, a little pricey.
Andrea,
Spicy, citrus, lots of personality.
Kelly,
Whistle Pig is crushing it with each bottle they put out. Absolutely one of my favorite distilleries. Excellent drink, smooth lingering finish, rich flavor... truly a “Kentucky Hug”.
Bradley,
So very smooth
Kristina,
Moderately smooth, light heat, little to no peat, buttery aftertaste. My home favorite for sipping.
LaRond,
Soo smooth...
Joe,
Nose like maple syrup
John,
Really nice butterscotch and vanilla notes. The hint of spice is also enjoyable, but not as smooth in the finish.
Shane,
Tasting notes are right on point Flaviar. This is a darn good suggested free bottle choice along with the Knappogue Castle. Smooth and sweet into a nice spicy kick on the side of my tongue.. then a nice 100 proof long finish. Really nice when sipped with some savory salty snacks and dips.
Shane,
The two stars removed are for having maybe a little too hot on the spice. I suppose the middle of tasting is a little lacking. I do lack some experience with Rye whiskeys in general but this really excites me about trying more predominately Rye whiskeys.
Richard,
a pretty damn good spicy whisky.... sip it, don't mix it..... add a cigar and you'll have yourself a nice evening
Justin,
Excellent flavor
Andrew,
A good sipping rye. The mint notes were great on the nose. Nice oak flavors, and the spice and sweet blend well.
However, it left me wanting more given the price point.
Nick,
really enjoyed this whiskey. Smooth taste to the lips, than a smokey rye bite. def would purchase again
guest,
Just delicious. Caramel with hints of burnt orange followed by tobacco spice and light smoke
Tim,
Not crisp enough for me
Neil,
This is a great whisky and change of pace from my favorite Angel’s Envy. Whistlepig 10-year rye is not as sweet, but very smooth. It holds its flavor all the way through has a nice finish.
Will,
Spicy as
Daniel,
Love it. Easy to drink, vanilla forward taste.
Michael,
Was never much of a Rye man, kinda slept on it. But I have been awoken! Truly this is a fantastic whiskey, not to be missed, great for sipping...again and again. I was pleased by the butterscotch and honey throughout, with just the right amount of spice and wood to make it interesting.
Forrest,
A good sipping whisking.
Daniel,
Spicy and warm
Joe,
Dried apples and maraschino cherries on the nose. Mouth coating. Vanilla and spice. Some warmth.
Donald,
Best rye we’ve ever tasted!
Ryan,
Very smooth and bity, but delicious.
Mark,
Love the distinct flavors that you only get out of whistlepig.
Nicholas,
Big RYE ENERGY. Tasty, spicy dram. Mellow, sweet nose. Big spicy rye on first sip, gives way to mint and MARSHMELLOW with a more of an allspice / baking spice finish.
Matthew,
Hands down the best Rye I've ever tasted to date.
Tyson,
Stout, good flavor
Danny,
For me the spice is too harsh but overall it finishes a little sweeter and cuts through the spice. At first I wasn't sure on this but it is growing on me. I appreciate the complexity.
Jocelyn,
Excellent
Ira,
Just joined Flaviar, and this is my first rating/tasting notes. I read the tips on how to taste whiskey and they were very helpful. I'm not a good taster b/c I don't have the best sense of smell (lifelong sinus issues). I even tried the "smell with left nostril, then right, then both nose holes" technique. So here's a shot with a toast to the folks at F!
I bought this whiskey last month in PA after closing on my late parents' house, and got this as a gift for a hard job completed. Had some last night in a Glencairn and let it rest and open up while I watched Star Trek. At first it was hard to smell much through the burn of the alcohol but after 20 minutes or so the alcohol had eased and I could smell pears. That's what kept coming to my mind, pears! Long thick legs in the glass and a beautiful amber color.
Tasting in my mouth: apricot. A little bit of buttery caramel. Really wonderful mouthfeel with a nice long finish.
Thank you, Flaviar. Prior to this I'd just kind of sniff and sip. I like the techniques, it made me slow down and enjoy the beverage more. Lovely drink!
Gareth,
Brilliant
Cynthia,
Sweet flavor, strong but not harsh
Darren,
This smells Divine sweet and caramel. Taking a sip you are immediately hit with a spicy hot taste which fades to a lingering sweet but hot burn on the finish. Highly recommend for Rye Noobs.
Brian,
the caramel was a nice aftertaste, and it was very smooth. I prefer it straight as blending with a cola drowned out the caramel and left mr with a heavy feeling in my gut. Yes...definitely drink it straight.
Brandon,
Very strong in honey and caramel notes. Sweet after taste with hint of the spice you feel in the back of the throat.
Scott,
Spicy in back of throat, then lingers on tongue. Sweet vanilla notes on nose. Disregarding price, it would be great in Manhatten or Boulevardier with premium ingredients. Given price, better sipping Rye's available (McKenna and Rittenhouse come to mind). 6/10 (Above Overholt, below McKenna).
Shaun,
Spicy! Little hot but the spice overrides it quite well. A nice rye overall. Would make a killer Manhattan
SCOTT,
Now my go-to rye whiskey. I think it is right there with Pikesville rye. A bit less spicey than Pike.
Dan,
Terrific flavor with a caramel overtone.
Matthew,
Very rye forward, but very smooth. I'm typically a bourbon drinker, but this Rye has become my new go-to. You can absolutely taste the difference between this and cheaper ryes.
Matthew,
Smoother than any other Rye
Michael,
This is an excellent rye. Initial taste will put some people off but the finish is incredible. This is 100 percent rye. Not for someone who isn't crazy about this type of whiskey. Would also not recommend to a first time rye drinker.
Terrell,
Fiery yet soft. Hot but doesnt burn. Very much full of flavor
Benjamin,
Too medicinal
Lance,
Just not a fan of Rye
Chris,
Not a fair rating since I tend to prefer the bourbons over the ryes
James,
Chose this as my free bottle this quarter and was disappointed to see it was only 375ml instead of a full sized 750ml bottle. I guess I need to read more carefully because it wasn't obvious when reading over the selections. Haven't tried it yet and I'm sure it's tasty, but this is my first disappointment with Flaviar.
Matthew,
I almost didn't choose this bottle because it was only 375ml, but then I realized that a full size bottle could run upwards of $75-80. I'm glad I went with it because it was a whiskey game-changer.
Ray,
First bottle I received from Flaviar...and what a bottle!! Smooth, flavorful. Great addition to any whiskey lovers collection.
Michael,
First time trying whistlepig. Definitely gonna keep it in the collection
Matthew,
Really refined for a rye. A bit drier on the finish that I expected but nice, long peppery draw. Very smooth. Definitely will buy again.
Michael,
It seems to be a little hotter than I care for.
Paul,
Spicy, sweet. Perfect in a whiskey sour or neat. Really quality stuff.
Ajay,
Excellent rye. syrup like consistency with very little burn. I plan to buy another bottle at some point.
Andrew,
One of the best rye whiskeys I've ever tasted. Smooth, strong rye flavor. Drink it neat, it's too delicious to insult with ice.
John,
Love it
SCOTT,
Smooth. Sweet vanilla up front, spicy pepper on finish. Very good rye.
Jay,
Wow what a flavor. Starts out dry and woody but finishes with a brilliant Carmel/butterscotch flavor. Verry smooth with almost no heat on the way down.
Aaron,
Got some hints of butterscotch and charred oak on the nose...nice. Flavor really lagged behind the aroma though. Was harsh, got small hints of oak, burnt caramel, and a little rye bite. But not very complex at all. A disappointing one here to me.
Aaron,
And I love ryes...so it wasn't that. For some odd reason, this one just fell way short to me.
Ed,
Smooth rye with no bells or whistles. If you’ve never had rye and want to taste what the most basic rye profile tastes like, this is it
Chris,
I really like this Whiskey. It's my first Rye and it did not disappoint. The flavor is very different than bourbon in a good way. It's hard to describe. Just buy it!
David,
A little spicy on first glass, but the second time I had it was perfect. Smooth with a pleasantly hot aftertaste.
David,
I tad too spicy for my liking. However, I enjoyed the hot, almost numbing sensation that was left lingering in my mouth after each sip.
Carl,
One of my favorite ryes
Eye: Golden
Nose: Apple juice, floral
Taste: rye, mint, perfume (in a good way)
Mouth feel: in between thin and creamy
Finish: long
Chris,
Would order again
Mark,
Smooth rye whiskey
Chris,
Rye and a little mint
Richard,
If you like rye, this is a must try! This is one of the best sourced whiskeys I have come across. It is very smooth for a 100% rye 100 proof whiskey. My only complaint is the price, there are a lot of good whiskeys at this price point. Make sure to try rye whiskey before buying this bottle. Rye isn't for everyone.
Geoffrey,
I think of spicy syrup. I get that cinnamon, maple, brown sugar flavor that I can pour over my pancakes. Delicious!
Justin,
Carmel, smooth finish
Michael,
Nice smooth whisky!
Taylor,
Spicy, caramel right up front then a slight honey. Then finishes with a faint minty vanilla. This one will straight up knock your dick in the dirt ... on stainless steel ice.... i recommend a water back. Makes it super neat and smooth and the flavors more distinguishable. I loveeeee it like that. Yum.
robert,
Trying to learn about Rye, so picked this up on the website. Liked it a lot. Very smooth for a Rye. Spicy, somewhat fruity, with some heat. I've found I really like the 100% ryes, versus the blends. One of my best bottles.
Ray,
Heavy rye and spice notes with a sweet butterscotch and caramel finish. Initial nose and flavor were heavy alcohol but a dash of water opened everything up.
Rob,
Gasoline
Jim,
Mild aroma with hints of spice and mint. A little hot but bold finish with peppery rye finish. Very good on the rocks.
Jim,
Mild nose, I can smell the spice and a hint of mint. Milder than other types I have tried and a bold finish with the pepper of rye coming through.
Lori,
A bit too spicy for my liking. I taste the char and a bit or caramel but the rye and spice overwhelm everything else.
guest,
Some burn. Sweet. Fairly smooth. Caramel
Theodore,
Piece of candy
guest,
There’s something about this that’s so unique. It completely stands out from the crowd. I think it’s the mix between butterscotch, vanilla, and mint.
Eboni,
Didn't like it that much. The flavor was too smoky for me
Neil,
Great bite, warming sensation throughOut finish
Johnathan,
Smooth, easy going down. Always keep a bottle on hand.
William,
Smooth as hell, this is my sweet spot for sure.
Justin,
Smooth taste, great whiskey!
Kelly,
Ice
Beau,
This is my go-to. The price is a bit high, but it's widely available in my area, and I love the stuff. If it was cheaper I'd be knocking back 8oz of it every evening...
Spencer,
My go to for an old fashioned. Just an overall well balanced bourbon.
Spencer,
Meant to say rye but oh well
Austin,
Great Rye, and I'm not a rye guy. VERY tasteful, strong and has some flavor depth. Wish they made a bourbon.
Nathan,
It has the rye spice, but surprisingly smooth on the end and slightly sweet. Best Rye I’ve had so far, and I’m not a fan of Rye whiskey.
William,
I guess I don't like rye. I was hoping to like this, but haven't really tried rye before.
Salvatore,
Strong punch not expected. A bit harsh but good flavor.
Jason,
This was not what I expected, but not a bad bourbon. A little, dry, I want to say.
Greg,
An overrated rye in my opinion, very one note with it's spicy palette.
Floral and fruit notes with a red hot palette and dry finish.
Jeremy,
Top of the line Rye. Complex, sweet and spicy rye. Full throughout with a smooth dry fruit finish. Boozy nose, but amazing on the palate
Guy,
A delight. Strong rye flavor and a bit of spice. The finish is what won me over. Complex and long lasting. It is at the upper end of what I would consider a reasonable price per quality, maybe a little high for some, but really enjoyable nonetheless. It now sits on my top shelf.
Brandon,
Love it. Great bite, crisp finish
David,
Wasn't worth the price paid. Much better Ryes for more affordable prices out there
Conor,
Strong, but not a long burn. Great on the rocks after a long day. Bit pricey, but i'll still pay.
Glenn,
The rye is strong with this one. I get an initial burn but then I start tasting a little pear. Not bad but not my top choice.
guest,
Very good. It has got me to experiment with more Ryes.
James,
Fantastic Rye. Would give it another star if it was cheaper, and then a 10th if they sourced their own stock.
Kyle,
Very good very smooth for a rye
Brenda,
Let it breathe. Warm. Add ice cube
Frank,
So smooth
Toshinao,
One of those whiskeys that grow on you. Had it with friends and it was an instant hit..! Not sure if I’ll buy again for the price but it was nice to try it.
Brian,
Good straight but not in a mixer
Josh,
It's a really fresh tasting rye! I really enjoyed it :)
David,
I like this a lot.
Chaz,
This is one of my top 10 Ryes. Good flavor character, Good in mixed drinks.
Jacob,
No doubt a quality whiskey, I just struggled to appreciate much more than the spice.
Rick,
I love rye whiskey and this one did not disappoint. Would recommend it to my friends
Gary,
This is my favorite rye. It's a bit expensive, but worth it. It's sweet, spicy, light, maybe a little minty, and beautiful.
Tyler,
Nice and smooth
Corey,
Spicy and smooth, as good on the rocks as it is in an old fashioned.
Robert,
One of my favorites!
Eduardo,
Charming fresh/herbal aroma with hints of spice and caramel. In the palate is strong and mouthfilling with burning sensation and a bit charred aftertaste.
Baker,
Not a big fan of rye but this is one of best I’ve had. Mint aroma immediately noticeable and very smooth for a rye whiskey. I detected a smoky taste that paired nicely with the strong rye and what seemed like fruitiness more than spicy. Nice choice if you get the chance
Prenard,
Very solid rye that you can't go wrong with.
Abhijeet,
One of my top 5 Rye. You cannot go wrong with this one. Incredible taste, strong rye taste with hints of fruitiness leading to a smooth finish
Tim,
I learned two things.............1) I didn't think I would like Rye Whiskey. I was wrong. It was VERY smooth. 2) I didn't look at the proof rating prior to giving it a try. The 100 proof sneaked up on me.
Charles,
The rye was overpowering. No plans to ever try it again.
Michael,
Great combo of smoky and minty. One of my new favorites!
James,
smooth but slightly odd flavor profile. The 12 year Old World is the Whistle Pig of choice.
I'm not into Rye whiskey, but this changed my mind
Maddie,
Absolutely amazing whiskey! Makes the best Manhattan I’ve ever had.
Teresa,
Rye is so variable. This one is smoother than most ryes I think. It was excellent start to finish with just enough bite that you know it is rye and then a really smooth finish.
Dariusz,
Spice, cinnamon, smooth. Pricey for a rye however.
Brian,
The proof gives plenty of heat, but it’s flavorful and easy to sip. Highly recommended.
Anna,
I don't normally drink rye (preferring scotch or Irish whiskey) but I found it smooth with a little spice and sweetness. It's my favorite rye so far.
Eric,
this was too harsh for me. Has a hard bite
Stephen,
A bit too spicy to drink neat for my tastes, but followed the suggestions to add a splash of water and it was excellent.
Nolan,
One of the best out there!
Blair,
I was really surprised by the sweetness with a nice little kick.
Payton,
A delicious rye. Usual lay more of a Irish whiskey fan. But this was great!
Jaime,
Bold caramel. Smooth finishing with mild burn. Love!!
Jon,
Unique that's for sure. Fresh cut green grass meets rye spice. It's hard to rate because its a flavour im not super familiar with but I keep wanting to go back for more. Try with a bit of water too, this whiskey is intriguing.
guest,
Smooth with an oak and vanilla finish. Delicious
Robert,
I don’t think I’m going to ever enjoy rye neat, but you never know. Having said that I liked this more with a splash of water, and would not hesitate doing so again. I’m certain it will make an awesome Manhattan. Definitely preferred Whistle Pig over my last tasting of Rye.
Marques,
I am very much a Rye Guy, and this stuff is a fantastic representation of a "Good" Rye. Very spicy, with a bite in the back of the throat, but a nice bit sugar to help this medicine go down. If that seems too much for you and you want to drink it straight, put just a few drops of water in it to mellow it. Otherwise mix it in something simple like a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned so it doesn't get too lost. It's a bit too expensive of a whiskey to use in something with other overpowering flavors like a Sazerac or a Vieux Carré.
Andrew,
The serious spice notes in the nose and on the palate definitely let you know that it's 100% rye. Lingering mint was very obvious in the finish for me. A touch of water tamed some of the upfront spice and brought the vanilla out to play. I can't say that this is one I'm really going to enjoy drinking straight, but I can't wait to try it in a Manhattan.
Joe,
A little too spicy for my taste
Antonio,
Spicy
guest,
Big rye. Enjoyable. Lingering spiciness and mint on the Finish.
Johnny,
My favorite sipping whiskey at the moment! Love the sweet smoothness of this.
Johnny,
One of my favorites and go to on a cool night! Love the spice mixed with the smooth sweetness.
Scott,
Love the smoky smooth sweet flavor. Hard to put into words. Different than most average Whiskeys, an absolutely must try
Justin,
Smooth, light taste with just enough sweet and spice.
Brian,
had a weird aftertaste
Douglas,
Not recommended. At 10 years, tastes like a poor knockoff off a peat whiskey.
Nicholas,
caramel and spicy
Maxime,
Nice Rye Whiskey! Start enjoying it after a couple sips. Very mineral, banana, smokey flavor
Camille,
Very smooth
Jason,
I generally don't care for rye whiskeys, as they have what I perceive as a bright, coppery bitterness to them. This one is no exception, it's one I drink for effect rather than character. At 110 proof it has some balls!
Michael,
Solid!
Amanda,
Sweet taste, a burn on the back but with above 110 proof that's not a surprise. Great whiskey for someone who drinks whiskey regularly.
Audra,
Such a smooth flavor
John,
Love this, my go to rye
Andrew,
This is actually my favorite rye to date. It’s very pleasant if you cool it down just a touch with a cube or two or a few drops of water. It’s a little hot for my taste without that, but if you do, it is fantastic.
Mahuli,
Love this simply over a block of ice and in my old fashioned creation.
Adam,
A great rye, lots of spice and smooth at the same time.
Adam,
So this is a super strong hit as a stand alone for my taste. I would have to try this only in a mixed cocktail.
Floretta,
Oh my word!!! This gave me all the taste plus more. I have struggled with Rye whiskey, but this WhistlePig 10 year Rye is just beautiful. I love it.
Anne,
Not a huge whiskey fan, but this made me a believer.
Tamara,
Love this. It’s what I want in a rye. Nice spice
Stephen,
Really liked this rye. Great Carmel tones and balanced with spice. Might be my new favorite rye.
Art,
First rye. Spicy with a woody char taste and some honey. There is also a cow cud chewed grassy taste in there. Quite surprised I liked it.
John,
Never had a 100% rye before. Easy drinking, strong wood finish/earthy. Definitely belongs in my collection.
Michael,
I'd never had a full-on rye before. Very interesting aroma (spicy) and taste. Enjoyed it a lot, and intend to buy again.
Michael,
This was awful. Had an earthy aftertaste. Would not recommend.
jay,
never had rye whiskey before...loved this one...smoothe with a nice bite at the end
Landon,
Smells sweeter than it tastes. Very spicy and the spice lingers for a bit. It would make a great old fashioned
Richard,
Not bad, but prefer Angel's Envy.
Erica,
This was not a favorite of mine. The finish for me was a mix of grass and burnt wood and I was not a fan.
Stephen,
Fantastic rye. The subtle sweet vanilla and orange mix beautifully with the oak and spice. Full bodied, well aged and smooth
Jennifer,
Very smooth with a smoky hint of spice in this. I'm new to tasting but would get this again. Was very good sipping by our last bonfire of the year.
Eric,
Interesting woody-kind of taste.
Co,
A very smooth taste indeed. Pleasantly surprised.
Aimee,
Very strong and harsh with a bit of an aftertaste.
Will,
Pretty good, not a huge fan of rye
Nick,
Love the spice in this one. Very nice complimentary bottle to the first tasting set.
jarett,
I get a lot of cinnamon in this whiskey I’m not a Fan of
Justin,
I like it, but I really pick up on the spice. I put a splash of water in it to help tame the spice.
Greg,
Nice start but not liking the heavy charred almost earthy finish....... Cube of ice opened up a bit second time around.
Joshua,
Very smooth. The butterscotch and honey notes really come through with a final kick of spice.
BILLY,
Great mixer
Robert,
Tastes like grass.
Rosario,
Seems to be a lot of hype over not much of an offering. Price to performance ratio is less than desirable. I agree that the after taste is not pleaseant as the first sip is appealing.
carl,
I've always lked Rye whiskey. This one is smoother than most and has less of a bite than most ryes. Interesting choice to start the club.
James,
The smoothest rye I've ever tried. Had I tried this one first, this wouldn't have been only my 2nd.
Michelle,
Not bad for a Canadian Whiskey.
Joshua,
Loved it. Honestly its really smooth for a ten year 50%alchohol content
Garth,
Excellent - but a bit pricey
Jason,
Outstanding rye! A bit of water opens it up nicely! Be careful though..as good as this tastes, it’s easy to drink a glass or two too many!
Michael,
WhistlePig has always been my favorite Rye Whiskey. I don't care for Rye but this one is one that I will always have in my home bar. Its comfortable with a crisp bite of spice.
Todd,
Nice flavors, enjoyed!
Ro,
One of my favorite ryes, but not worth the price point.
Cody,
Decent whiskey
Andrew,
This whisky reminds of romping through the autumn woods on a crisp October afternoon in northern Wisconsin.
Kyle,
Really enjoyed this one. Has a nice crisp flavor. Well worth the money I paid for it.
Benjamin,
Good rye. Overpriced, but not terribly so.
Antti,
It is an outstanding, intense, Straight Rye Whiskey with a spicy birth & life that leads to a bold death!
Will,
Quality rye. Clearly 2nd best in the tasting set.
Chris,
Strong rye with a surprising finish.
Madison,
If you are a rye fan, this could quite possibly be your favorite whisky. It is rye perfection, with complexity to keep you interested for the price and a place on the shelf.
Kurt,
It was ok. Definitely not worth the premium price tag for a average whiskey....eould have enjoyed it more for 50 dollars.
Mark,
Fabulous with hints of mint and honey
Andrew,
Very smooth with excellent spice to this Rye whiskey
Steven,
Great whiskey. Sweet for a rye, with lots of spice. Strong finish calls for an ice cube.
Danny,
Definitely taste the spice, vanilla and caramel. Butterscotch, anise and cherry come out towards the bottom of the glass but no sign of mint. Abrupt finish. Very good rye but nothing unique. Reminds me of the Bulliet 10 year bourbon. Would have given it a 10 on taste alone but honestly don’t think it merits the $84 price tag.
Justin,
Spicy but rubbing alcohol taste over powers
Uriah,
Wish it was smoother but once you get to feeling god I'm sure it gets better.
Gordon,
Too "alcoholy". Over powered the flavors and left me wanting to tone it down a bit.
Logan,
Smooth drinking
Wes,
Top Notch Rye! Definitely my favorite of the Damnation Revolution
Daniel,
Love it
Chris,
Very smooth rye.
Mr.,
Very smooth! Price is much cheaper here!
Dale,
Too spicy for me. Started out ok but the after taste was just too much to handle.
Thomas,
Too much spice for me. Some very nice notes in there but not a balance that works for me.
Chris,
The hints of caramel and vanilla go very good with the spiciness.
Mat,
This is not worth the hype. Way too much spice. It overwhelms everything else about it.
Mike,
Love Rye's but this one is too spicy and with too much bite. Would never buy again.
Troy,
Not a fan of rye, and this certainly won't win anyone over
Jamie,
Nice, smooth experience.
Pedro,
Smokey, vanilla, caramel jumps at you right away. Smooth.
Jon,
Pretty nice! It's got a lot of caramel for a rye, which is interesting. This a rare rye that is great for drinking, not for mixing. I like it!
Josh,
This is going to get me into trying more Rye. So much flavor and layering. The sweet and spicy is pulled off so well in this!
Daniel,
Nah
Mary,
Probably my new favorite rye. very smooth, deeper flavors initially, with a long, spicy finish.
Sam,
Very smooth with spicy notes.
Justin,
Very sweet beginnings, with a spicy follow through. Lovin' it! Caramel and vanilla are prevalent throughout
hector,
This is outstanding silky smooth, and the flavors pop. Outstanding
Michael,
New to whiskey. I liked the caramel and the spicey finish.
Brandon,
Okay taste but kind of bland.
Byron,
Very good whiskey. Heavy on the darker flavors like caramel and vanilla with a smokey finish. I really enjoyed it.
Christian,
Really taste the hints of vanilla and caramel.
Keef,
An incredibly smooth spiciness that's otherwise very nicely balanced. Not a characteristically rye flavor. But still absolutely fantastic. Probably would go over well even for a non whiskey drinker.
Pete,
Never miss a chance to sample.
Tristan,
Very strong caramel on the nose, almost floral but very inviting. The palate is incredible! Mint and vanilla and more caramel! Smooth finishing but leaves a lingering spice that’s near ever lasting and turns to a soft herbaceous mint. Simply awesome.
Joel,
My favorite rye. Hot and flavorful.
Andrew,
This is a very solid rye but you have other options at the price point.
Craig,
Really good rye
guest,
Love it. Super mellow and easy to drink.
Antti,
I was able to enjoy a bottle of WhistlePig Straight Rye 10 Year Old Single Barrel Select, 2016; which was an outstanding, rich, whiskey with a birth spicy rye & caramelized oak, a spice filled life & a death of baked apples & clove.
Bryon,
I'm sure it's good. I'm not a fan of the high rye content.
Carl,
Spectacular rye and just as fine neat or in a strong Manhattan
Pete,
This was straight rye godliness! A bit rough to start, but 100% worth it. A nice warmth, and a lasting one at that. Will definitely be buying again.
Matt,
Bold and delicious
Eric,
The smell alone sets it apart from most others in its category. Much more pleasant even on the first nosing than is normally expected from a typical dram. The taste leaves nothing truly unbalanced but the finish could use a little work.
james,
did not like it at all. like drinking lighter fluid.
Dave,
Need a couple drops of water to mellow it out. Brings the heat, maybe too much at first. Good rye flavor.
Bill,
Most excellent flavor (even if it is a bit stiff), complex and unique. Will buy again.
Derek,
This is my favorite rye.
guest,
Very excellent Rye
Jon,
Oily on the glencairn glass... nose is spice and Carmel...
The heat on the palate is a bit much...hate to water it down but needs a couple drops for certain to taste anything...after that, you can at least taste oak, a slight honey...and finish is a little bitter...6.2
Sean,
Love this stuff
Cody,
Get passed the initial heat in this and you'll understand it better. Big flavors and very bold
Robert,
It's a bit hot on the finish but an extraordinary Rye.
guest,
A very nice rye. It's like a holiday in ones mouth.
Shawn,
This is the dram that turned me on to rye. Lots of caramel up front with a nice spicy finish. Makes a great Old Fashioned, but I prefer it neat.
Marc,
Very clean with a nice smooth finish. I enjoyed it!
Trevor,
Good bite and smooth!
Richard,
Easily my favorite rye. Incredibly smooth.
charles,
Excellent rye. It's great if you let it breathe a few minutes but too long and I've found that it gets very intense.
Eric,
my favorite rye so far.
Alexander,
Sweet, hot with vanilla fudge. Well rounded malty ending.
Erick,
So smooth.
guest,
Does not have the smooth finish that I like from my eyes. Just a little harsh for my palate.
Patrick,
very smooth! great with old fashioned
guest,
Great, full flavored rye, spicy and smooth
Roger,
Little rough on the pallet. Good but not my favorite
John,
Super mellow and buttery up front with some spicy rye kick at the end. Love it!
Virgil,
Not for my palate. Odd aftertaste. Never smoothed out.
Don,
Very nice rye!
Nick,
Nice, oaky flavor
Casey,
New favorite rye!!
Sean,
This is great love rye and this has a grape soda finish that lingers for a bit that is amazing

Love WhistlePig!
Cody,
Best rye whiskey I have ever had.
Kiegan,
Great rye all around. Definitely one to set the bar as a style.
