A real gem. The subtle nuances, slight heat, cherry overtones and balance make this a fantastic after dinner or late night cap rye. I’m a serious rye drinker... and after purchasing my first bottle and tasting, I immediately ordered two more for stock. At this price, great go-to when you want to keep from draining your Black Prince. Highly recommend. 9.1/10
Definitely a full bodied and fleshed out flavor profile. Well crafted and rich, it’s a great after dinner drink to enjoy by the bonfire and watch the stars. I was wary about the price at first, but couldn’t be happier with the bottle in the end! Well worth double the price in my eyes!
Just a great Rye. (can't beat WhistlePig). Made the perfect Old Fashioned!
It was less smooth than the other Whistle Pig Rye i purchased.
Did not detect any hibt of Lamb Spleen Escabeche but there was an earthiness that i wasn't prepared for.
Not certain I would spend for this one again.
You must have eaten Greek food prior to consuming! This is arguably the best bang for the buck in the entire rye list. If you have extra bottles I’ll buy them.
Great bottle. Very smooth and no heat. I can definitely get lost in the sherry flavored finish. I would love another bottle.
It is alright, nothing to really write home about. A little hot on the palate like most whistlepig. If you are a serious Rye drinker you will probably like it, but if you are just exploring rye you may want to start someplace else.
A serious blend for serious pretentious drinkers. And I love it.
I love this blend. This is the smoothest blend of my favorite brand
Best whistle pig for the dollar
Amazing flavor, so smooth and sweet but not too sweet. Love this one. Great for all kinds of bourbon drinkers.
One of my favorite ryes. Puts me in my happy place. Super smooth.
An immediate favorite.
Smooth from start to finish.
Good but not great. If you've had the original, it's that smooth, buttery goodness that wins you over. This one is far more complex and in my opinion loses the greatness of the regular 12 yr.
I agree Stan!
The rye is a great drinking rye. While there are better ryes MUCH cheaper (IMHO), this makes a nice change and actually has a bit of a sweet bouron-y taste. Not sure I would buy again at the price, but it's pretty good.
Definitely a nice surprise because I’m not a fan of rye being in the forefront and I thought that this would be like that. This is a rye whiskey but the blend is so smooth and fruit forward with the perfect amount of weight - it lingers for a while and I think I might invest in a second bottle. I love the now gone Hibiki 17 and although I could be miles off - to me, they have some similarities.. I’m impressed.
Makes a great Old Fashioned! The wine blends seem to overpower the rye and drown out the spicyness. The flavor profile was too complex for my young palate.
An incredible blend!
Reminds me of the Farmstock rye no.2
It's smooth, sweet and easty to drink. Only has 43% abv so if you're looking for a stronger WhistlePig you may want to look at the 10 or 15 year. Overall I really enjoyed it. Very complex and enjoyable rye!
Very smooth. Bottle is already half gone!
Surprisingly smooth with nice fruity flavors. Excellent neat.
Happily surprised. We loved it!
Loved it! Had it at one of the dinners, and I enjoyed it even more the second time.
Incredibly velvety smooth with nice fruit and vanilla flavors. Almost too good. This bottle will be gone quickly.
I didn’t like it - very complex to rate - the favor seems all over the place - maybe it just my palate.
Very smooth, just a nice bit of sweet.
Great drink better neat
Warm spice sweet nectar golden juice
Too mild for my Rye taste has some nice fruit and citrus with a slight red chili finish. For $130 you could have at least hit us with 90 proof. No wonder proof wasn’t in the description.
I agree. The only problem here is this rye was proofed down beyond my preference. There are hints of greatness, but I cannot appreciate them at 86 proof. Comes across primarily as mild.
Very nice, mildly sweet, finish. Just a delicious bottle of rye.
This bottle is great! It’s infusions have opened my wife up to the idea of drinking more whiskey when prior she was off put by many other bottles. It’s smooth and pairs great with a variety of different foods.
Oh so wonderful, a slightly peppery flavor with a soft carmel finish flavor. The best rye I have tried
(Too late... it's gone.)
This is much better than I anticipated. Insanely smoooooooth. Get a spice & pepper nose when you pop and pour. And then a mild peppered-caramel (if there's such a thing) taste as it's going down. I might have to get another bottle before it's gone!
This is phenomenal blend! I love Whistle Pig to begin with, and rye in general, but this is one of the best ryes I've ever had. Warm, Smooth peppery nose. Slight pepper and baking spice on the palate. Warm, spicy subtle medium-length finish. So Good!!
