A unique Brandy from Emilia-Romagna.

Meet Italy’s best-selling Brandy. In the early 1700s, there was a certain French family named Buton, which dealt with the distillation of noble Spirits, supplying alcohol to Napoleon I. Jean, a talented Buton heir, took the family recipe book on his journey to Italy where he finally settled in Emilia-Romagna, the region of great Wines. In 1820, Jean set up an experimental distillery in Bologna. It was a huge success and in 1830, Jean set up Italy’s first steam distillery: it’s here that Buton Cognac was first made. Destroyed by the disastrous bombings of World War II which luckily left the precious cellars intact, the distillery survived 200 years of historic events and still produces premium Brandies today.

Vecchia Romagna Classica is their youngest Brandy with fresh and delicate flavors. Made from the finest grapes that are continuously distilled, it’s aged in premium oak barrels. This results in fresh and subtle flavors that come up on the well-balanced palate as stewed plum, dry notes, and citrusy orange zest. This wonderfully unique Brandy is best savored neat.

Brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect after meals. They were and are still considered medicine. Basically, any fruit that can be fermented can be distilled and turned into Brandy.
Brandy was invented in the 16th century by a sneaky Dutch merchant who learned how to remove water from Wine and save cargo space. He then added water again and called it “Bradwijn”, which means “burned wine”.
